    Factorise completely...

This is an example of the "difference of two squares" rule where (a^2-b) when expanded is the same as (a-b)(a+b) given that b is a square number. So, the same rule applies here - both terms in the original equation are squared, so you can expand it to (a-b)(a+b), with (x^2+x)^2 being a and...

I have no idea what that is. I also don't know how to answer this.

    Mathematics Test Help

I have a test coming up this Thursday and was wondering if I can get some questions to answer for a little practice. The test covers 2 prelim. topics, the quadratic function and locus/parabola and 2 HSC topics, probability and geometrical applications of calculus. Any questions appreciated. :)

Is it the right answer? :)

    maths q help!!

    V=(t+3)(2t-1)^{ 2 }\\ \\ Let\quad u=t+3\\ \qquad \therefore u'=1\\ Let\quad v=(2t-1)^{ 2 }\\ \qquad \therefore v'=4(2t-1)\\ \\ V'=vu'+uv'\\ \qquad =(2t-1)^{ 2 }+4(2t-1)(t+3)\\ \qquad =(2t-1)[(2t-1)+4(t+3)]\\ \qquad =(2t-1)(2t-1+4t+12)\\ \qquad =(2t-1)(6t+11)\\ \\ Let\quad u=2t-1\\ \qquad...

    Locus and the parabola

We're doing chapter 2 in the HSC textbook at the moment.

    Locus and the parabola

We were behind, so we had to catch up, but yes, I figured it out. Thanks! :)

    Locus and the parabola

Find the equation of the locus of a point that moves so its distance from the line 3x+4y+5=0 is always 4 units. What I gather from the question is, we need to use the distance formula (somehow) with that line, and make it equal to 4, but I am not sure.

    Which uni is best?

I'm still not 100% sure but hopefully I can just get to UoW. :)

    Should I keep/ drop 3U maths??

If you can pull 90+ in Ancient, you aren't going to be bad off. :)

Final Thoughts - 12 hours to go

Good luck to everyone taking the economics exam. :)

    Year 11 Subjects.

I don't think that is the case, probably just how the lines worked out. A girl I know is doing 4 majors.

General 2013 HSC advice and help

I didn't go well in prelim but it doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. Definitely get all your homework due done once you get home, maybe you could then summarise what you did in class that day into note form ready for studying when required. There isn't really a set time limit.

    Engineering Studies

Too late now, I've dropped Engineering. :)

    Engineering Studies

Yeah I'll probably do that Deliriously. Spiral, I looked over syllabus and it's basically covering what we did in prelim, which I went horribly at. It doesn't coincide with any other of my subjects, so I see no point. Thanks for the advice!

    Engineering Studies

Only really lacking in one other subject, but I went better in it than engineering anyway. I got like 80% and 65% in 2 others, with no study, so I'm fine with those I believe, and I just didn't prepare for English, but that doesn't matter as it'll count regardless. I'm not going to get any...

    Engineering Studies

SpiralFlex, the thing is I don't really want to do engineering in that form, so really it's no use to me anyway. Spiritual Being, what subjects are you doing? I am definitely doing better it other subjects, but I can definitely improve them all. I think I'll drop it. :) I also reckon that by...

    Engineering Studies

I really want to drop Engineering Studies and I most likely will anyway, but I just wanted a few opinions first. Is there really any point keeping engineering studies as a "2 unit buffer" in case I screw another exam when I'm going to do horribly in the engineering exam anyway (24% in prelim.)...

    Geometry

That's good. I hopefully can improve with more consistent practice :D I thought I was just dumb.
