Please help me make a decision :( ... its killing me

Check ur PM. Another option maybe worth considering is to do a commerce/law degree at Macquarie or even at UWS and work on doing more commerce subjects than law and also utilise summer school. Then try to maintain a Distinction average and apply for UNSW. If you finish your commerce component u...

Please help me make a decision :( ... its killing me

Yeah UWS might hurt your chances of transferring... I applied to transfer to UTS from Macq and was offered a place for post-graduate law (JD). I don't know if I'll take it yet. The Macquarie Law school is not brilliant, it is severely underfunded and the quality of teaching is questionable at...

Please help me make a decision :( ... its killing me

I heard last year they accepted applicants with UAI's around the low 90s. So you might be just right. I myself transferred in with a credit average. In terms of teaching style, it is similar to USYD in some respect. I would say the level of marking in particular and the core units (i.e...

Please help me make a decision :( ... its killing me

How about Macquarie? The cut off is generally 95-96 but they have been known to accept much less, its worth a shot. If you get in and you're not happy you could always then apply for UNSW and you wouldn't lose anything because you'd get it all credited.

    LAW electives

Not to highjack, but I think we could possibly utilise this thread to create a knowledge base and share information on electives for forthcoming students, so any information on the following would be much appreciated also: LAW572 - Advanced Torts (Penelope Watson) LAW571 - Health Law and Ethics...

    MQ Semester 2 Results

Haha actually I was just telling misericordia in the Session 3 thread that I haven't done Juris yet and I have to do it at the same time as Business Organisations -yikes-

    Session 3 (Summer School)

I'm going to try and see if I can get the pre-req's waived so I can do another elective this summer in addition to Equity, maybe Foundations of Commercial Law... If they let me then that will reduce my load for that semester (semester 2) that has Juris and Business Orgs down to 3 units instead...

    Session 3 (Summer School)

Haha yes I've heard about his tactics lol.... I have no problem contributing in tutorial discussions as long as I know what is going on! We'll see how that goes... Btw, it looks like I might be doing Juris and Business Orgs in the same semester next year.... is this a death sentence in your...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

Haha, can you give reasons as to why it's "useless"? And what does saving 200k have to do with? Why would I not be able to save 200k?

    MQ Semester 2 Results

I'm doing Business Organisations in Semester 2 next year, and I haven't heard one good thing about it. I'm positively terrified, especially since people here are just passing it.

    MQ Semester 2 Results

Other uni's do this, it helps to take the weight off their systems. I'm surprised MQ has only just started it, if you ask me it should have been done ages ago.

    Session 3 (Summer School)

Haha I hope you're right about torts v constitutional... I do prefer essay type questions, but I have no real interest in the units you suggested. Having said that though, I've done a lot of essays in my Arts degree and now that that is over I think I'd much rather do hypotheticals/practical...

    Session 3 (Summer School)

So basically constitutional is law makes torts look like a pansy in terms of difficulty? This is exactly what I ended up doing. I couldn't believe the amount of mistakes, in fact I recall reading one case extract 3 times because I was reading the dissension of the majority in an appeal and...

    Session 3 (Summer School)

Firstly, thank you both for your contribution guys, you've been so helpful thus far! I think I just had a really bad experience with Torts, the waffly nature of it was for me, unbearable. To that extent, I preferred contracts a lot more, once I finally got my head around equitable estoppel it...

    Session 3 (Summer School)

Thanks for your input. I haven't actually done 316 yet as you might have gathered so I'm not familiar with the Pearson guide or any other guides/readings yet, but I will most certainly check it out. I've been hearing some great things about Shayne, so I look forward to taking some of her units...

    Session 3 (Summer School)

Thanks for your reply! I actually did email Shayne asking if she could tell me anything - she is the current academic advisor. She told me that Peter Radan was the one who would be convening the unit so she couldn't offer any assistance. Although, she did suggest that I email him and ask. So I...

    Session 3 (Summer School)

For all those who are enrolled or have previously completed a unit at summer school (especially LAW ones): how intensive is it? What are the assessments like? Exams (open/closed book) or Assignments? Is there more than one or is it just one big one? How much time do they usually give you...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

Wow, you think that having knowledge about what governs your everyday life is useless? That's umm... interesting to say the least.

What do we think of this

See the attachment. Apparently this is part of a broader scheme to move the university into being complete online learning environment, so no more tutorials. I've also heard it will affect science students too. I personally think it's a joke, particularly for law and science students...
