Cool, hi! :D I was in one of the Embedded groups - either 5 or 6. Mine was the group with the 'bots named after browsers. I wanted to do the Python stream, but I did that in 2011, so I couldn't.

Already done in 2011 and 2012. :D If you are who I think you are, you were in my group for '11. Hai! Did it last year, too. Persevered (I did the Advanced stream) until I got to the last week and couldn't complete two questions. ;( Missed out on an HD. Embedded was comparatively easy though.

I used the Sam Davis text (school loaned it to us). I read it once, in full, and it did help me get that extra detail in. But it's *definitely* too detailed. e.g. goes into Hoffman compression.

I don't do SDD, but I did IPT last year. The closest thing we got to something exciting (in my opinion, which is flawed) was learning basic, basic SQL. Even then, we didn't move beyond SELECT, FROM, WHERE - and I was still really sleepy during that lesson. (okay, okay. I didn't get enough sleep...

Not a screw up so much as a random HSC story. I was doing the IPT HSC while I had a very sneezy cold. Ended up sniffling and sneezing so often that the supervisors gave up giving me tissues and gave me the entire box instead. :D
