Does anyone else think the 2008 paper was piss easy? Are you expecting a harder paper this year? Comment on any trends you have noticed.

    SDD study thread

The fetch execute cycle is the architecture which the CPU works on. First, an instruction is 'fetched' from RAM, it is then decoded by the CPU, the instruction is then executed and the results are temporarily stored in registers. (bit rusty, please fill in blanks if there are any) Q. What is...

    General Thoughts: Biology

Fk I forgot to talk about the technical side of action potentials... only wrote about why not all should generate a stimuli (not all stimuli are significant enough, brain will be overwhelmed etc.) I KNEW I HAD SOMETHING MISSING

    Multiple choice

heheh, what was your reasoning for 11 anyway? I might be wrong as well. This is what I think: D shows stomates less than half open during the WHOLE day. Plants can't photosynthesise with stomates half open. B shows them open during half the night (For respiration) and in early morning and...

    General Thoughts: Biology

But when can they photosynthesise if the stomates are closed all day? They will die if they can't photosynthesise (Stomates are less than half open for the WHOLE day in D)

    What's your reasoning?

    Band cut-offs

Re: What will be this years band 6 be for bio It was a fair exam, not the easiest i've done, but fair. 84 - 86 probably

    General Thoughts: Biology

Re: Hsc 2009 bio exam But then again, plants need to photosynthesise in the morning, and D does not indicate they can photosynthesise because stomates need to be open for C02

    General Thoughts: Biology

I wrote that screening for the breast cancer gene could lead to its removal from the human genome through abortion, but this would be unethical (lol all i could think of)
  12. lolrofllol

    General Thoughts: Biology

I had the same answer with similar reasoning.. Should be A

    General Thoughts: Biology

Re: Hsc 2009 bio exam In that case I may be wrong and it could be D. B doesn't really show open stomates at night...

    General Thoughts: Biology

Re: Hsc 2009 bio exam I think crossing over just mixes alleles, not creating new ones. Mutation in the DNA however, creates new allels (e.g. albinism)

    Re: Bio Exam ? 1. C 11. B

    General Thoughts: Biology

Re: Hsc 2009 bio exam 14/15, pretty sure 11 was B.

    General Thoughts: Biology

Re: Hsc 2009 bio exam Burnet's work was on the immune system you're right. It was pasteur who worked on infections disease (anthrax specifically, yes anthrax, Koch also worked on anthrax), and I think the guy that put 'mendel didn't realise its importance' is a troll.
  18. lolrofllol

    General Thoughts: Biology

Re: Hsc 2009 bio exam It was definately B, why would stomates open at night when there is no light to photosynthesise with? They open early morning, close midday and open at dawn to minimise the water loss during the hottest part of the day.
