We don't want to make the subject choices for the HSC students lol

What is so special about James Ruse or any other selective?

I think it's more along the lines of a teaching model intended to cater for 'gifted and talented' students. I suspect it is about providing a more stimulating learning environment than normal for these types of students so that they are constantly challenged and realise their potential.

What is so special about James Ruse or any other selective?

Tldr; has anyone actually pointed out that selective schools (at the least high performing ones) are subjected to a slightly different teaching model than a normal school?

What would you like to see on BOS?

An FAQ is not quite a list of rules. The policy of not honouring requested bans existed long before it was written in the FAQ.

What would you like to see on BOS?

There is an obvious moral hazard issue with it. Also, you should take your own responsibilities when it comes to distractions.

Universities to blame for the maths crisis among high school students

There is a missing important statistic in all of this. How many of the existing post-HSC students actually enrolled in science, commerce or engineering have done 2 unit Maths or higher?

How is university different to high school?

I would caution that in some cases there are concepts covered in lectures that are not covered in the textbook and vice versa.

My ability in solving mathematical questions is declining.

Like Ext2, the Ext1 course also contains problems which require you to apply what you know in an unfamiliar situation. The course also steps up quite a bit in difficulty in Year 12 compared to Year 11. The best way to handle it (on top of doing heaps of practice problem solving questions) is...

Surely you are required to take first year maths with a B Sc degree regardless of major? Also, you cover statistics in psychology so knowing some of that first year maths stuff is pretty important.

Accounting and psychology have very little in common. Economics or even finance (behavioural finance and behavioural economics are emerging fields) would be better but contain a great deal of mathematics in them. As mentioned before, marketing or human resources best complement the psychology...

Why wouldn't you want to major in marketing? It's like the perfect complement to psychology (the other being human resources).

Career possibilities with a Bachelor of Maths

Obviously for academia you need to be phd qualified. For industry, it really depends on the role.

Amount of math in ECMT1010 and ECMT1020?

Pretty much this. Most of it is just algebra and differentiation as well as rote learning and plugging numbers into formulas you may not necessarily understand properly.
