    Question Chain Thread !!!

When one CFC molecule reaches the stratosphere, it photodissociates under UV Radiation, releasing a chlorine free radical: CF3Cl ---UV---> CF3 + Cl' Chlorine radicals then attack ozone molecules: Cl' + O3 ---> ClO' + O2 ClO' radicals then combine with monatomic oxygen present...

I hope not either... I don't know each exact step of the winkler method. Industrial Chem, followed by shipwrecks.

    I've counted four (although most likely wrong). 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane 1,1-dichloro-2-fluoroethane 1,2-dichloro-1-fluoroethane 1,2-dichloro-2-fluoroethane ?

    Question Chain Thread !!!

lol I just make them up. It's better to have questions with diagrams/calculations in this thread that don't involve very long responses, otherwise who can be f'ed to write long responses. Next: What should the above apparatus be rinsed with, in preparing for a titration, AND WHY?

Who is expecting to get spanked by chem?

I think EVERYONE is expecting to get spanked... lol

Describe the use of the above apparatus in volumetric analysis.

    Question Chain Thread !!!

That's correct, because you've got to have the lowest number for the atom/halogen thats most abundant. Or you can just use plain logic to try and get the smallest numbers possible in your name. arrange them by alphabetical, like you have. bromo --> chloro ---> fluoro ---> iodo

    Question Chain Thread !!!

I spoke to the HSC advice line about this... She said that they are both essentially correct, and would not be marked wrong, its just that mine goes an extra stop to show the resulting base when the oxide of manganese dissolves in the water present in the electrolyte paste. Just stick with...

A membrane filter usually is comrpised of a thin-polymer (such as teflon, perhaps) which has microscopic pores, which range from diameters such as 0.001 microns to 0.1 microns. These microscopic pores trap particles such as bacteria, turbidity etc. Membrane filters used in micro and...

If they ask about the production of polyethylene

To contrast, you would have to look at certain criteria I reckon, like microorganisms, and how chlorination helps to rid of pathogens, and then how reverse osmosis would do that, for example. Also, you could contrast sand filtration with microfiltration. That's all I can think of atm.

    These are the one's I'm using: DRY CELL Oxidation: Zn(s) ---> Zn2+ + e- Reduction: MnO2(s) + NH4+ + H2O(l) + e- ---> Mn(OH)3(s) + NH3(aq) SILVER BUTTON CELL Oxidation: Zn(s) + 2OH- ---> ZnO(s) + H2O(l) + e- Reduction: Ag2O(s) + H2O(l) + e- ---> 2Ag(s) + 2OH-

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Cellulose is a natural condensatin polymer comprised of glucose monomers (up to 3000 per cellulose polymer). Adjacent Glucose monomers are positioned 180 degrees relative to each other, so bulky CH2-OH groups do not interact with each other. Each glucose monomer is joined by a...

    Wrond date!?

That's a relief, because I've only written student numbers on pages in writing booklets only in my Economics exam (since the supervisor insisted - the other's were like aah dont worry you dont need to wastee ur time).

If they ask about the production of polyethylene

yesss same. there was like no haber process questions in last year's short answer section, so expect like a 6 or 7 marker this year. drinking water should also be in there as like 3 or 4 marks.

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Probably some dry deposition bullshit lol Yeah exactly. Manganese is a transition metal, and its oxide will form a basic solution (just like all transition metals except ZnO, which is amphoteric). And when you combine the two, you get the overall reduction equation for the dry cell...

Who is expecting to get spanked by chem?

Since Bio and Phys were seen to be easy.. I reckon BOS will change the pattern and make Chem hard. Leave best till last... :hammer: lol

    Question Chain Thread !!!

I'm pretty happy with what the advice line said about my questions -Firstly I asked about the dotpoint on a chemist in named industry. You don't actually have to know the name of a chemist - but rather concentrate on the industry they are employed in, their role, and what chemical principles...

Gosh I've never heard of that. Ohhh.. actually I remember you said thats used to precipitate phosphate ions. So hence it must be soluble ?
