    Question Chain Thread !!!

Ferric Hydroxide is insoluble, Jason's right. I started laughing when I saw a glass container labelled Fe(OH)3 in one of the prep-rooms at school, with a brown-orange liquid in it, which had no solid, was all liquid. lol dumb lab assistant. Ammonium nitrate is soluble, as all nitrates are...

If they ask about the production of polyethylene

I would love to have an ordinary 6 marker, comprised up of separate parts, including: - Draw a galvanic cell (3 marks) - Calculate the cell potential (2 marks) - Explain why..... (1 mark) Would be awesome. But then again, stupid BOS chooses the questions. Then again, we could be loving the...

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Well, like I said, I know the more common ones. If they throw some weirdo one, I might not know. Correct, its insoluble. ;) Barium Hydroxide

Can someone check my equations for battery cells im unsure if theyre combined correct

Well, wouldn't Manganese(III) Hydroxide be produced anyway, because MnO2 is a basic oxide (Mn is a transition metal), and then when it reacts with the water, it would produce a base?

If they ask about the production of polyethylene

haha true ay. ;) lol yeh its quite a possibility.. since the last time I saw one was in like 2001 or 2002. They haven't had a longer response on batteries for quite a while ay?

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Cheers :) Well, I guess I know general ones, but if they give me something really out of the blue, I'll just take a punt lol Although, most phosphates and carbonates are insoluble (except the first group elements). I generally have a rough idea of which common ones are insoluble and soluble...

    Question Chain Thread !!!

    - Technetium-99m has a half life of 6 hours, and releases low energy gamma radiation, while Cobalt-60 has a half life of 5.3 years and releases high-energy gamma radiation. Hence, technetium-99m would allow for accurate, precise medical imaging, without exposing the body to harmful levels of...

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Maybe I forgot to mention... Reliability also incorporates repeating the experiment using the same procedure. So perhaps the MORE correct answer is D. tricky question ;)

    Question Chain Thread !!!

My teacher has also taught us that reliability is simply attained by the reptition of the same experimental procedure, to obtain a larger sample size of results, upon which a more reliable conclusion can be made. Variables are related to validity. Validity is achieved when the only factor...

    Question Chain Thread !!!

lol hope so... By the way, since I'll be calling up advice line soon... Is there any particular dot point or topic area we're all concerned about or anything, that I can ask??

If they ask about the production of polyethylene

I reckon this topic area will be in MC this year, not short answer responses, considering there was a 5 or 6 marker on this stuff in last year's paper.

what is the first-hand investigation on pH of salt solutions?

Certain salts contain ions that will 'hydrolyse' (correct me if this term is wrongly used here), which are either moderately weak conjugate acids or bases. eg. NH4Cl is an acidic salt, because NH4+ donate a proton to water molecules, forming an acidic solution: NH4+ + H2O ---> NH3(aq) +...
