URGENT ASAP MATHS HELP PLS (OR ELSE ILL DIE)

Also you will see the 2023 one is on Parabola Magazine. They made hardcopies since 1964 and put them online in 2009. It also has a problem section and that has 1730 questions similar to the UNSW maths comp questions. That would be better preparation than 4U. https://www.parabola.unsw.edu.au

URGENT ASAP MATHS HELP PLS (OR ELSE ILL DIE)

Well not any more to add because kkk579 already said to do past papers. But here is the link to past papers and on the bottom of the page are the 2009-2022 papers: https://www.unsw.edu.au/science/our-schools/maths/engage-with-us/high-school-students-and-teachers/unsw-school-mathematics-competition

I have made an edit to the solutions. In 25 I previously said it was by Descartes' theorem, but I replaced that with Soddy-Gosset theorem. The Soddy-Gosset one is a generalisation of Descartes' theorem so it is better to call it Soddy-Gosset. So I put it at...

    Mathematics Extension 1 Predictions/Thoughts

They didn't say that you need to derive it. They said because the question said "or otherwise" you can use ANYTHING including oos stuff. It is silly to have to derive well known things like that. Do you derive Pythagoras' Theorem every time you use it?

    Mathematics Extension 1 Predictions/Thoughts

But generally if one can give a reference for a theorem that was proved, one can go on to use it to prove other things without having to prove it again. That's how maths works. Maybe a more succinct solution would simply be follows as a corollary of Fermat's Last Theorem Reference: Wiles...

    Mathematics Extension 1 Predictions/Thoughts

No because it wasn't. It was proved in 1994 and published in 1995.

    Mathematics Extension 1 Predictions/Thoughts

Well they said because the question said "or otherwise" they would have no choice but to award full marks for the cross product solution, however short that may be - and regardless of anyone's opinions on the matter.

    Mathematics Extension 1 Predictions/Thoughts

So do you think it's fair to give full marks for the obviously much shorter solution - compared to these which obviously take much longer time and effort? (from nesa mg)

    Mathematics Extension 1 Predictions/Thoughts

I've heard various stories about how many marks this would get - everything from 0 to full marks. I didn't go to NESA's HSC feedback day today which was held at UTS - but I heard that at that the HSC markers confirmed it would get full marks. Arguments for saying stick to the syllabus is...

    Maths Extension 2 Predictions/Thoughts

You going? It has been confirmed that audio recordings will be made. Last year the audio recordings were accompanied with the slides too. So I don't think I'll go. I'll wait for the audio recordings and slides. But I still think videos would be better. They only ever did that during the covid...

This theorem had it's origins in poetry. On July 17, 1936 John Herbert de Paz Thorold Gosset first enunciated the generalisation of Descartes' Theorem in a private letter to Frederick Soddy and subsequently published in 1937. This added a fourth verse to Soddy's poem The Kiss Precise which was...

Here is 25. Here is my solution. That's a rather sophisticated solution, one which I think very few students would use. It can also be done by other far less efficient ways but I believe my way is the most efficient way. The theorem I used was proved first in 1967 by Daniel Pedoe: D...

    Hard Questions

When you learned trig did you ever use these archaic trig functions? Versine: versin(θ)=1-cos(θ) Vercosine: vercosin(θ)=1+cos(θ) Coversine: coversin(θ)=1-sin(θ) Covercosine: covercosine(θ)=1+sin(θ) Haversine: haversin(θ)=versin(θ)/2 Havercosine: havercosin(θ)=vercosin(θ)/2 Hacoversine...

With AMT dragging their feet getting solution up on their website which should have been there by now (in the past it was there mid-January), I put solutions together for the Senior 2023 AMC paper: https://4unitmaths.com/amc-2023-sen-sol.pdf

    James Ruse vs tutoring

Imagine an internet where everyone in all other schools had access to trials online, but JRAHS and NSB didn't. Then neither of them would be 1st.

    James Ruse vs tutoring

That's actually not a bad thing for JRAHS. It's going to be good for JRAHS to have to lift their game. But going after coaching colleges isn't the way to do it.
