It is not specified in the question that y is a function of x or vice versa. I agree that it's a bit strange. But I don't think it makes any difference.

Nope. I literally got it 5 minutes after it was posted. Unless Jojofelyx also has solutions and posts them up, I'd say give it a day or so for solutions to come out.
