    I think because we were told to use the line of best fit to predict a future population it would make more sense for it to be linear. That question didn’t require you to assume a future value, and the points were much more spaced apart due to it being an exponential relationship

    by drawing a line of best fit you would be assuming it is linear though. I would say that it is quite strange to draw a line of best fit for a percentage which does not maintain a constant gradient, and it should be okay if you overestimated the figure due to it continuing to increase.
