You can get zero for the assignment if you haven't notified the teacher within 24 hours of due date or you lack a doctor's certificate or similar proof, but they can't fail you for an entire course if there is more than one assignment.

In my opinion a text which has textual integrity is one which has maintained its form, facts and purpose over an extended period of time or many rewrites eg Tates rewrite of King Lear had little textual integrity as the purpose of the ending was altered. But thats just my opinion.
