Fantastic information and advice in this thread. I just accepted my early entry offer into a Bachelor of Environment (major in EES) and am trying to sort out my first year units. Two units which I intend to choose require HSC prerequisites (STAT171: "Band 1"(?) in Mathematics Ext 1/2 and...

    Science Subject Review Thread

Yep I will do that, thanks for the tip! I had a look at the specific course structure for my degree and it only has one maths unit: Statistical Data Analysis - STAT171. Wouldn't have minded more math units but that's okay :)

Design and Perform a FirstHand Investigation

That task basically wants you to gather a bunch of medications in different dispensing forms and compare their solubilities by testing them in solvents. In an ideal world you would only test one type of medication in varying forms (e.g. asprin tablet, enteric coated aspirin, slow release...

Should I drop Mathematics, go to General, or remain in Mathematics

Talk to your class or head teacher about it. If it is very stressful for you right now, you could consider going to General, but I wouldn't drop to 10 units just yet - not until at least after your halfyearlies (as a kind of "insurance"). It also obviously depends on your workload and whether...

    Uni: Laptop or Desktop PC?

As said in the title, would a laptop or desktop be better in uni? I plan to do a science-related degree so I imagine having both would be beneficial, however I can only have one. What would you recommend?

Really need help with creative piece?

My set task is to do a 1500-word creative piece which focuses on "The American Dream". It also has to incorporate the given stimulus (which I'll attach here). I'm thinking of writing a story on a homeless orphan boy and his older brother whose parents risked everything to move to America...
