    No Maths, Science or History

You'd have to drag me kicking and screaming into a history course. Same goes with physics, now that I've been through year 11. Originally Posted by Bookie: I'd be more surprised to find someone with no maths, science or social sciences. Me too, I know a few people doing English ex1 and 2...

    HSC Assessments- Thoughts/Results

English: 14/15. There was a single 15/15, oddly enough, from a kid who could never get above 12/15 in year 11. I don't know who was more suprised, him or his teacher. He earnt it though. English Ext1: Have a holiday assessment to do. English Ext2: 15/15 Maths 2U: 29/30. I've never been...

obvious CHEATING in ext 2 english

Speculation that a rural school could not achieve such excellent results is not '"obvious proof of CHEATING" as the idiot thread poster stated. You could argue that the results are a bit of an anomaly, but there are bound to be anomalies every year, it doesn't necessarily mean foul play has...

What's the most popular genre people are writing in?

Rather than say to yoursellf, "Ok, I'm going to write in a postmodernist style", try writing in general first. Just writing. Then you can look back when you have something substantial, and see whether or not your writing reflects naturally a postmodernist style. You may find you write...

    newbie seeking help

First of all, what concept are you exploring with that story? Second, it does seem a bit cliche. Hard boiled detective has his hand forced by people above him, and ends up doing some dirty work. Let me guess, he gets revenge back on said corrupt political hopeful nearer the end? That's not...

What's the most popular genre people are writing in?

But on your attempt for originality, make sure your writing about something you either genuinely find interesting, or genuinely enjoy. It will make researching easier, and let your story flow better.

    The Name

A first draft by the end of the holidays? That'd be a push. Most of our class has solidified a concept at least, while a few have begun writing. We've got about 7 short stories, 3-4 few critical analysis, one poetry person, a radio play and two films. Hard to gauge where everyone is with such...

Teen angst - don't do it!

About that teen angst thing. Our teacher said not to do it. The Extension Two Seminar Speakers said not to do it. Countless BoredofStudies.org forum members said not to do it. The head teacher of English said not to do it. And blow me down, out of a class of 13 people, 3 people choose teen...

    Viva Voce?

Yeah we get a panel too, our english extension teacher is the nicest lady you could meet, but the head of the english faculty is an angry, angry person.

First Three Words of your MW (Just 'Cause)

Advice please? 10 or 11 units?

Wait... well it *does* technically (In case a Math's person attacks me with a probablity equation) but if you pull decent results you don't have much to worry about. Having less units theoretically should give you more study time anyway, so you might even find the disadvantages of 10 units...

Advice please? 10 or 11 units?

the 10 unit fallback barrier is probably most effective if you think your at risk of actually failing a subject. If say, you do pretty decently across the board, dropping down to 10 units doesn't really put you at an 'elevated' risk of losing your HSC.
