Two people ranked first in course

I'm pretty sure whole marks are sent to board of studies, not ranks. So if it rounds up to the same whole mark, then they will be the same rank. But for school ranking purposes (prize giving etc), they might do lots of decimal places to determine first place accuately

So how the f#%%# does this work?

This is a common misinterpretation of the moderation process, or its an oversimplified explanation. Can't be bothered to find the link, but google 'board of studies modeeration explanation' to find the official 'proof'

So how the f#%%# does this work?

If 2 people (or more) are tied at first place, the top 2 (or more) marks will be averaged togive each of those people their internal mark. This would also happenfor last place tied rankings. Everyone else will just be moderated around the mean of the cohort through the normal moderation...

    Combinations question

The question is asking for all the committees which can be formed, but the condition is that if B is included, A must be excluded. The group can have neither A nor B, just A or just B Therefore, your solution is the total combinations, 10C6, minus all combinations where A and B are together...

COURSE ADVICE REQUIRED! u mirin' ?

Re: advice needed! mirin' my choices? You should take seremify's advice, if its accounting you're keen on, he knows better than anyone else on here how to get there. And I'd say in all professions that are client based, including accounting and law, you need much more than academics to be...

Internally, if Person A beats Person B by a mark, but externally...

No, raw marks don't mean much, and will change a lot. Get your facts right. And knowledge of the moderation process often inspires people to work harder, or help other people because they realise the benefits to their own marks.

Internally, if Person A beats Person B by a mark, but externally...

That seems pretty impossible.... Bos does the bell curve thing with all the marks, then shifts everyones marks around according to how everyone from your school goes in the externals. So person 2 would still get higher than 60, since he/she only got beaten by one mark internally, and this would...

Internally, if Person A beats Person B by a mark, but externally...

No, this is wrong. The gaps between the internal marks would be maintained. so 1. person A gets 90 internal, 90 external. B gets 60 external, and in the 80s for internals, depending on how the other people in the course went. (Could get a mark of up to 89) 2. A gets 90 internal, 60 external. B...
