    Extension

Um...what does being Asian have anything to do with it? The cosmology topics ARE hard, as are the Philosophy topics. Most students wouldn't be able to deal with it. Also, the raw marks for both distinction courses were very, VERY low. The reason it does so well is that the aligning is really...

Do people exaggerate the difficulty of the HSC?

I think the law call was for the 99.95ers? Is the breakfast on the 5th Jan? I'm going to that one. :)

Do people exaggerate the difficulty of the HSC?

Combined law people all got calls from the Law faculty - ie. "Congratulations and we'll see you next year!" (amounting to a guarantee). ETA: And I second the combined med guarantees - 2 of my friends got definite offers already.

    Extension

I thought it was alright. Instrumentalism vs. Realism and all. I mean it leads to interesting debates in quantam theory and other cutting edge research in science. The problem i see with a Science extension course is that all the disciplines are quite disparate - whereas in history the...

The course could teach stuff about scientific instrumentalism I suppose. Ask sikhman about it. He did that option for philosophy.

the perks of an awesome atar and very happy parents

I gotta say. THIS. hahaha. :haha: Though my parent's are so pleased that they're basically funding all my shopping trips. (I'm talking 100s per trip :P). I'm probably also getting a Macbook Pro (justified by uni apparently)...however I have yet to convince them to get me a dog. Apparently it...

    Help..subject dilemma :(

Excellent advice Anna, exactly what I was thinking as well. You realise that its 10 Units INCLUDING your accelerated units right? You've already got 4 units out of the way, 2 if you're doing 4U maths. You only need at most 8 units of non-Philosophy subjects. Just a note, my friend got 100%...

Ah how interesting! You must be one of Christina's mates. In a nutshell - keep the HSC in mind, but don't obsess. I would say to take it easy and chill out until the end of Year 11. Do subjects you really enjoy - I found the HSC extremely easy because I actually LOVED every single subject I...

Haha. Buddy - I reckon we should sing Kumbayah and make nice. I also like to take the piss (particularly out of this site) and not to take things too seriously. I wonder how we got our wires so crossed concering who was being serious and who loved who? You know, I have all due respect for Ruse...

Ah Gosford! (Finally figured out where the 6 degrees of separation was) So you must know Natalie and Sarah! I just saw them for a post-HSC High Tea last Sunday, if you run into them again - say hi!!!

Who got 99+ without Extension maths or Physics?

Fun fact though - I never set out to be such a humanities person. I use to do 3U Maths, Economics and Chemistry.

Who got 99+ without Extension maths or Physics?

I didn't have a single unit of maths or science count towards my ATAR. ;)

Perhaps you could try posting in the Business forum? Try abit of interaction with your fellow Business Studi-ers. Since I don't know anything about you: ie. what kind of student you are, how you're doing currently, what case studies you're doing, and how much you've studied - I doubt I can be...

    1. Firstly, and most importantly - CHILLAX!!! Take it easy, don't have an uber competitive, ultra-nerdy attitude, please. The ppl I know who did best were chilled out all the way through YR 11 and 12, had lives, and were not study machines. :) You don't want to peak too early and have nothing in...

    2009 HSC School Rankings

Hmm. I see what you're saying, but I don't really buy the rationale behind ranking tables nor do I buy its processes and methods. That said, I fully believe that Ruse deserves its first place and that Baulko, Grammar etc deserve their high places.

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

USyd, and potentially overseas. :D But USyd for at least the 1st semester of next year anyhow. Got a call from the Law faculty already so essentially the offer is in the bag. (whew)

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

ah. getcha. She just got the call, but might not get the scholarship if she did med there. Ouch - harsh! In monetary terms - Sydney methinks. But really, Sydney is the most prestigious, go to the day on 5th Jan and talk to the faculty there! I disagree with this. I think you're missing the...

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Oh! I had no idea they took into account our courses! I got a Scientia (turning it down though). I'm so excited for my friend then!!!!!! Her preference at UNSW was Med and with a 99.9 she got a Scientia - wow good for her! But so many ppl I talk to want to go to USyd for Med rather than UNSW -...
