Do you buy your books or borrow them from the library?

Nupil, I can guarantee that my school library is worse than yours. :(

;) Just checked and Heroin's already been done in this thread. :( Ah well, it can be in here twice.

    lyrics

Heroin The Velvet Underground : I don't know just where I'm going But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can 'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man When I put a spike into my vein And I'll tell ya, things aren't quite the same When I'm rushing on my run And I feel just like Jesus' son...

    lyrics

These have probably already been done but oh well... Perfect Day Lou Reed : Just a perfect day, Drink Sangria in the park, And then later, when it gets dark, We go home. Just a perfect day, Feed animals in the zoo Then later, a movie, too, And then home. Oh it's such a perfect...

    Truancy

To me it seems rather pathetic. It would be so much hassle to prepare those cards for every little early-leave etc. Plus, I have no idea how they would inforce it, there are different finishing times all across the state and people usually think I'm a few years older than I...

Do you buy your books or borrow them from the library?

I do both. I borrow a whole load of texts for assignments/study but only some novels. I buy quite a lot of novels too, especially if they are cheap at the time.

    Queer as Folk

I love the show too but rarely watch it these days as I've got to get up at 6am.  I think we need another person to say that Brian is HOT! *drools*

Dave Pelzer - My Story (a Child Called It, The Lost Boy, A Man Named Dave)

I've read A Child Called It and found it to be absolutely compelling and horrifying at the same time. :(

    The Alchemist

One thing I did love about it is how the author is obviously extremely intelligent yet does not fall into the trap where writers often tend to think that great writing has to be verbose. I hate the OTT pretentiousness of long-winded novels.

    The Alchemist

I liked this book but didn't find it compelling like so many others have. It does make you think but all-and-all it was just too... spiritual for me. :(

    Bridge to Holy Cross

Have you read The Bronze Horseman? Holy Cross is the follow up but I think Paulinna has written it in a way in which you can follow along by just reading the second. I'm nearly finished this book and I think they are really good yet have a tendancy to 'drag on' for too long - often repeating the...

    The Bell Jar

I love this book but don't read it if you are feeling very depressed yourself because I think it's the sort of stuff that could push you over the edge if you relate too closely to it. The most difficult part for me to handle reading about was the electric shock therapy. I would love to...

Nahhhhh, I could probably think of more CDs or MP3s that I own from my fave artists actually... ;)

    21 grams

I've seen this and thought it was a fantastic film with very strong performances but it is definitely not for everyone as it is very heavy and potentially confusing for some people.

    All about music

Hmmm... The Strokes, The White Stripes, Death Cab for Cutie, The Mars Volta, The Rapture and all other DFA produced stuff, Air, Portishead, Goldfrapp, Lou Reed and the rest of The Velvet Underground, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Groove Armada, The Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Cat Power, PJ Harvey, Goldplay...

what's the longest book you've read?

My edition of 'The Secret History' is 628 pages. The Bronze Horseman has very small print and is 730+ pages long. I've also read Harry Potter - Order of the Pheonix (what? Harry's ber-cool :uhoh: ). I don't really read many long books - the tend to drag on.

    holiday reading lists

I've been looking for 1984 but my local library doesn't stock it - I thought that was a bit strange . I'm going to try a bigger library soon but I've basically just been on the net all holidays. :shy:

Geez! Some of you guys have read heaps! :jaw: I'm reading about 5 books simultaneously at the moment. Berlin by Antony Beevor Leadership by Rudy G. (can't spell name - ex-NY mayor) Plus I've read some Paulina Simons novels and loads and loads of magazines (mag-addict).
