    Muhammad Cartoon Controversy

Muslims are the Tom Cruise of the religious world; you make fun of Tom Cruise, he sues you. You make fun of Muslims, they burn down your fucking embassy. Just because radical Muslims fail to grasp the concept of political satire in the context of free speech, doesn't mean they can expect the...

    HSC becomes a reality

This sounds like a fabulous idea, except; 'Monthly prizes are expected to feature Apple iPods, PlayStation Portables, and the soon to be released Sony Reader.' So there will be a monthly prize awarded to one of the nine bloggers, over nine months? Assuming the 'prizes', as is their nature, can't...

    Laptops in lectures?

I'm just trying to explain where I was coming from when I asked about laptops. I'm not saying that lecturers don't make any assumptions about them, but I don't think they were laughing 'at' me. I wasn't trying to get into an argument about what people do and do not do with their laptops, k.

    Laptops in lectures?

Right, when a potential student with no experience of Uni life innocently inquires about the use of laptops for course work, I'm sure they automatically assumed all of the above, just as you're assuming I have a comprehensive knowledge of the history of laptop use throughout the University...

    Laptops in lectures?

Uh, right. You somehow know they were laughing at what I had said, yet you have no idea what that actually was. You didn't witness the conversation; I was inquiring about whether it was useful to own a laptop for the course, not asking them if I could please bring one to every class, while using...

    Laptops in lectures?

Uh, they didn't laugh "at" me, and I don't think they assumed I was lazy, as you can spell check on any computer, not specifically laptops. I also think spell check is in itself a useful tool for editing any document, and it doesn't constitute cutting corners.

    Laptops in lectures?

You're welcome. Haha yeah, those are the subjects I'm taking in BCM. I also considered switching to JOUR102 because I don't quite remember if PHIL106 credit points will count towards the Journalism degree if I, like you, choose to defer next year. I might stick with it though, because I'm...

What are people at UOW like?

I missed out on a chicks' magazine? Damn, damn, double damn. It only really annoyed me because it's something that's obviously not going to appeal to the general student population, therefore a waste of time for a lot of people. I mean, if someone came up to me randomly and said, "Hey, you...

    Laptops in lectures?

Hey, you're doing the exact same Double Degree as I am. We are officially the greatest people alive. Ever. Um, I thought the advice they gave me on laptops was rather strange; I was told that they aren't used in classes whatsoever, and that a large portion of the editing and workshopping is...

What are people at UOW like?

I don't know what the people are like yet, but I can tell you that I am an asshole. IF IT ISN'T PREDOMINATELY SURFIE WHY DID UNICENTRE GIVE EVERYONE A FREE SURFING MAGAZINE? WTF SRSLY.

    Laptops in lectures?

Haha, when I went to my Creative Arts interview I asked about laptops in class. Both of my interviewers rolled their eyes, cackled and said, "Well, one person uses them." From that I'm going to assume it's somewhat frowned upon, at least during Creative Arts classes, baha.

    Unicentre Membership

Wait, wait... are you guys saying that even if you are a bronze member (which is apparently free, and which I assume is everyone who selected 'yes' for Unicentre voting when they enrolled), you still have to collect a card? I thought you only needed a card if you were a gold/silver member. I...

    English Extension 2 biased?

Well a creative piece is extremely difficult to mark in an objective sense. A critical work, is, I'm guessing, marked in a more rigid fashion, as it's basically an extended essay. With creative writing you have to consider the intent of the author. And let's face it, with this new wave of post...
