I am currently in YR12 and i have become increasingly interested in Engineering. My subjects for my HSC include Math MX1&2 and Physics. I have had a general interest in "how things work" and all that construction type stuff since i was little kid and i enjoy the mathematical side of things...So...

Where is everyone up to at school? I find that we're going a bit slow...we've completed complex/conics/graphs and we're up to reduction formulae for integration

Not too bad atm...dno about rank but i got 93% and 87% raw in the first assesment and H/Y respectively

I wouldnt bother to memorise the equations...just know how to derive them

Our exams were in week 8/9..sucks to come back to another 2 weeks of school

∫sinx.cosx.e^cos2x dx I have a mental blank for this question...the cos2x is really bugging me I tried letting u = sinx.cosx, giving du = cos^2(x) - sin^2(x) = cos2x But that made absolutely no sense :)

Has there ever been a question where you had to make your own reduction formula instead of showing that its equal to something. Cos when you have the answer that you are trying to get, its much much easier.

Hmmm, i think i figured it out. If you plot points, you can tell its going in the other direction.

If you sqare that equation, to sketch it, you would have to draw y = 3x + 5 and y = -3x - 5, because of the +-

Noone? :( I can find that if |z| = 1, then |w| = 1, but i dno how to prove it goes in the other direction...

Oops, sorry the denominator was supposed to say 9 + e^2x

Did my 4U paper today and this was one of the questions int. (e^x)/(9 + e^2x) Very similar to the question i asked before... Im not sure if im right, but i got 1/3 . tan-1 (e^x / 3) Can someone please verify this :)

When the RBA buys $AUD, does that increase the demand? And when the RBA sells $AUD, does that increase supply? I get confused when the RBA intervenes directly, rather than indirectly through interest rates
