i really want to go to usyd, but...

If you're not going to enjoy commerce, don't do commerce. It's a lie that most BSc students at Sydney are trying to use it as a stepping stone. I know my brother did, but now that I do it, I don't know anyone with that plan. Double degree is an option, if you WILL enjoy commerce. But also...

    Bachelor Of Arts At Sydney

In terms of area specialisation, I'm sure that's recommended, but not necessarily required. It depends on the school. Particularly, many private schools will be much pickier on what is required above the minimum listed above.

How do you get into dentistry??

It's often good to do a program postgraduate like this... In many undergraduate courses, there is a very tight first year where you can get kicked out at the end pretty easily. You stress a lot and do a lot of work and have to do it at the same time as getting used to uni. The Graduate...

    Shripwrecks,corrosion, and conservation Summary

My notes at http://www.boredofstudies.org/courses/science/chemistry/2001_Chem_N_Summary_Joel.pdf cover shipwrecks. Actually, I have it with the syllabus points interlaced (hidden)... I'll try get BOS to supply that too (I used to have it available when I ran the hsc resources scene...).

    Aargh uni choices!

Well if one doesn't know about comfortability, then reputation is important. Reputation is important anyway. If you know a particular course you want to do is crap at one uni, don't go there. If the course reputations are good at both or all, then don't go looking for little differences, I...

    Liberal Studies vs BSc/BA

the uni doesn't offer both courses because one is better than the other. What do you want to do? BSc/BA will give you two degrees, that means TWO majors. Liberal studies gives you one degree (is it a BA or a BLibStudies?) and has other requirements, like some amount of sociology is...

    Aargh uni choices!

UNSW physics is quite good, but still miss people like Dr Karl... =P Nonetheless I don't have a clue about Biology & Psych... I know that generally the sydney uni arts stuff is really good, and most of the science stuff I've been doing has been too. In general, USyd's got the atmosphere if...

    better than school?

Uni is lots of fun! It really depends a lot on your course, more on your subjects, a lot on your university and their union, but mostly on you and what you make of uni. There're so many people, so many things to do at uni... there's everthing... No one's pushing you around as at school...

    typical attendance hours

Most standard first year science subjects are 6 credit points, which for science implies 6h a week at uni. Usually one does 4 6cp subjects in science. Doing tafe alongside in first year is not advised. Arts subjects supposedly make up the lacked hours at home [in readings, i guess, but...

    Dehydration of Ethanol

All you need to know (and you REALLY need to know) is that it is a catalyst. Catalysts generally provide an alternative pathway or environment for a reaction to occur, decreasing the activation energy of the overall reaction.

    The Aether

According to the definition they were playing by when MM did their experiment, the aether doesn't exist... If you want to redefine your own aether, enjoy.

    Orientation Day

Now that the open days have been, the next information days in January are about subject selection mostly, although for many, they are still choosing courses... I don't remember ALL the unis having it the same day last year, I remember USyd and UNSW on the same day, but that's ok, cause...

    bnw/br is a good combo?

Most people dislike either the book or the film =P But still, I ended up enjoying them both and the module altogether, but it all only really clicked in the week before the final exam, so just good luck! Both interesting texts! - Joel PS. Hey christine!!!

    how do you...

Three major different methods of studying for maths, all of which are important, but their relative amounts depend on how your brain works: - write notes: write up formulae, make sure you cover everying, write out sample problems & solutions that illustrate clearly how to work with a certain...

    Talented Students Program

I haven't heard of people arguing their way into TSP as a whole. If you don't get in, I think you should just take that and leave it alone. Generally TSP is made only for a small range of students and the uni will choose when they want to expand that, but it can be a lot of work. Oh yeah...

    Notation

there are plenty of books on notation and notation issues.... but there's more than enough notation for you all yet to learn in maths, in all sorts of sciences, semi-sciences (formal philosophy, linguistics), etc... One of the issues with notations is that different group grow different...

Im an idiot. Explain to me "which" vs "that" and how to use the word "whom&

The deal with that and which is generally the following: 'that' is used to say something about an object, generally 'which' is used to describe the action of an object, and not it itself In some ways that describes an object before an event, which describes something after an event...
