u can discuss. for maths is says in the course outline that they encourage u to discuss it. anyway, they're usually not worth much. probably better to work them out yourself than get other people to do it for you (and even if get people to do it for you, try understand what they're doing).

The zone just says how far (by "zones" usually done by suburbs) u can travel, (doesn't matter where you buy the ticket). And the ticket says the time when u dip it so the ticket officer should know if you did the right one...you can try argue though, kinda hard if u've been on the bus for 40...

Re: UNSW Food - Expensive or Cheap? nope, no discounts for ARC. Most things are expensive, I usually don't buy much from uni. Just occasional chips/wedges from the quad, and drink from the chemist.

well i actually did scif1021, its a bit different this year with scif1121, but should be similar. It's like a nothing (stupid) course. I found it kinda pointless but bearable. Kinda lowered my WAM, and probs the reason i wont make science dean's list. so i'm kinda biased i guess.

I actually thought 75+ WAM was hard for first year before I started uni, but not too hard actually (you seem smart). I got a bit more, but kinda got carried by the math courses (should get HD's and definitely since you're doing adv. maths).

obviously they have reasons... and good luck, since you'll have "retarded people" teaching you.

only bought 1 textbook in first year (it was new), and it was not worth it. I've just been borrowing other textbooks if i need (except sometimes gets recalled, grr). and for 1st year maths courses at unsw dont need textbooks just get the course notes so thats good.

advice...depends on what you want to achieve this year. advice is very general too, try be more specific :) don't know what you want to know. about what courses to do? or how hard it is? etc. as sinophile said, maybe add me on msn for a bit to chat, its easier but this can work too.
