    Law going Post-Grad?

Melbourne Uni Plans US model If you can't be bothered reading... basically the idea is a move the a US stlye system where you do a 3/4 year generalist degree in arts/science/commerce ect and then go to "Law School." I see it this way: Advantages: The first 3 years of uni would have...

Sexual Assault - developments in Wales

How can you prosecute someone when the complainant and only witness other than the accused can't recall what occurred? That bit seems to make sense... but the article does appear to have not quite grasped the issues properly. ps. my head hurts

    Swearing in of Crennan J

Although she didn't say a word in the first couple of her hearing days... Crennan has actually piped up a few times since then... probably spoken more than Heydon did in the first 6 months in the Full Court.

    Swearing in of Crennan J

Does this mean her husband can't appear in the HC when she's sitting? Also - Austlii has been sucking a big fat one the last few weeks.

    In-class examinations - handwritten essays?

We had: Contracts A Contracts B Property A Property B Equity Trusts all as 1 semester each. I don't really see how you could do them in less than that... Although I would have gladly given property B the arse and just done 1 semester of Property. God I hated those subjects.

    In-class examinations - handwritten essays?

For substantive law subjects there are essays sometimes, but you can generally avoid them by choosing the other questions. (e.g. you might have an exam where you have to do 3/4 questions and 1 is an essay) Other subjects like intro law, jurisprudence, ethics ect generally have essays that you...

And soon, only 11 angry men...

You know who doesn't have juries? South Africa.... Now do we really want a justice system quite like that?

Uni Advice - Which Law School?

Perth is seriously an awesome city, I would personally love to live there, so Murdoch would be worth considering. Problem is it's a long way away from anywhere, so it's not economical to do short trips to check out other cities. Griffith Law school is only young, but I know some top grads...

And soon, only 11 angry men...

Not for state bodies exercising state jurisdiction. Unless you go so far as to offend the Kable/Fardon standards... which is pretty damn tough (read McHugh in Fardon where he basically says the Kable situation will probably never arise again) Hell, if NSW decided to establish a Lynch-Mob...

    Torts Question

You'd name both the doctor and the hospital as defendants. But generally you'd be wanting them to be an employee as the hospital's the one with deep pockets/insurance. May still be worth pursuing the doctor if they have lots of assets/their own insurance though.

    The Exam Preparation Thread

Never got worse than a 5 (credit) using this technique :) I consider a 4 (pass) a fail. And I'm not a top-tier boy (!) anyway. I'll leave their hoop-jumping to you guys who reeeeaaaally wanna be working 18 hour days making some partner rich :P

    The Exam Preparation Thread

Seriously, regardless of how much work you do during the semester - you still end up doing the same amount of work during exams anyway and realistically, your exam marks aren't that much better. The only thing that can be said for consistent work is that it means you generally go in with higher...

    A victory for common sense

EDIT: Don't mind me, I'm stupid. Anyway, Negligence is funny. I just can't find it rewarding when ultimately the highest level the law gets to is trying to convince 4 blokes (or 1 female) out of 7 that your clients injury was "reasonably foreseeable". I had to crack up when PAUA...

    Witty Repartees in Courts

ML: Good work on the site... I didn't realise you had it... I'm a not-so closet HCA Transcript addict so Ive come across plenty, but have been too lazy to keep them. I should have forwarded them to you. Dunno if I'll have the time anymore - now that i've finished up at my old job which was...
