    Challenging word problems (equations)

Let the number be 10X+Y where X is the 10s digit and Y is the 1s digit. For example 36=3(10)+6. We know that when the digits are reversed i.e. 10Y+X the number is 36 less than the original number. So: 10X+Y=10Y+X+36 \implies 9(X-Y)=36 \implies X-Y=4 \implies X=4+Y. note that 1 \leq Y<X\leq 9...

    Equations word problems

15x+17y=143 where x and y are positive integers. This is a linear diophantine equation. For the purposes of HSC guess and check works. However the way we solve these types of equations is as follows: Take the euclidean algorithm to find gcd(15,17): 17 = 15(1) + 2 15 = 2(7) + 1 2 = 1(2) + 0 So...

Why did they make it like this

  7. Q

    HY Past Papers

All of those prelim papers are old syllabus so I would recommend sticking with ace for this one.
  8. Q

How do i study for my math test?

Look at baulko term 2 exams in thsc they are perfect for further trig (Im assuming including double angle etc.)
  9. Q

Why did they make it like this

The textbook is easy to find and has been pirated many times, the answers however are a different story
  10. Q

    Young's double slit

Every double slit question ever stems from two equations: d\sin{\theta}=m\lambda \frac{m\lambda}{d}=\frac{X}{L} E.g. for the first one green light has wavelength=550nm. So you increasing lambda therefore X (the distance between maximums) must also increase as they are directly proportional (as...

Why did they make it like this

    You wont find it lol
  12. Q

Why did they make it like this

Either ask your teacher to mark your responses or just practice with trial papers (which do have solutions).. Also for bio most questions are just comprehension like ethos said so you really dont need specialised answers for (but for say physics where there are more problem based questions...
  13. Q

So what are you guys playing at the moment?

Ff6 is better imo very little grinding great story fun mechanics.
  14. Q

what is the best way to study for bio?

IMO reading the textbook first just trying to get the general idea is good. Then grinding out questions works (pearsons questions are really good).
  15. Q

    Are Critics still Required

I know people with high b6's in english that didnt use critics its not neccesary like I said before, and if you are just using it half-assed for the sake of using it, it may actually detract from your marks.
  16. Q

    Are Critics still Required

I think if you are just putting in critics for the sake of putting them in its pointless. If you put them in and it actually supports your points then its fine. Thats why I said you don't NEED it for a 20/20 nor does putting it in magically give you more marks. However if you can integrate it...
  17. Q

    Are Critics still Required

You don't need critics anymore even for HSC.
  18. Q

what is the best way to study for bio?

active recall. If all you are doing is reading the textbook you wont get a good mark. Consistently trying to recall content you learnt (maybe through flashcards past papers up to you) is the way to go.
  19. Q

    Band 6 Unreachable?

    Creative use of poll lol.
