HSC 2020 & COVID: Where does this leave us?

Especially considering they said this bs is gonna continue for another 90 days minimum, I don't know how the HSC will work unless they make us do a longer school year than normal(which is actually ok) or cut the syllabus down. I don't think they'll take Y11 marks because "no student will be...

Does this mean that Year 11 marks will count as internals for our HSC?

"give Principals and system authorities the power to determine the number, type and weighting of tasks for Year 11 school based assessment, in line with the decision communicated last week for HSC students" That's from the NESA COVID19 committee, I don't understand if this means nothing for...

    COVID-19 and school closures

To add to this Scomo just confirmed that schools are still open and children are encouraged to go to school. What is interesting is that on a normal school day 8% of children are absent, yesterday that number was 40% and today 75%, it seems that despite the medical advice to go to school...

    COVID-19 and school closures

At my school people can choose to hand in a form to not do the exam/s while those who attend school will sit assessments as normal. You don't have to be sick or anything to hand in a form, how does this even make sense? How do the marks work? How does ranking work? Why even do a test if not...

    Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

A way they could do it is have uni faculties do their own independent tests to see if the students are capable of being in the course. I think this was and still might be to a small extent how university works in Eastern Europe.

    Modern history USA question

It will be a in class test where I get two questions to choose from and the teacher said it will most likely be on effects or Republican policy, I just practiced writing out the scaffold you gave and I might just be able to do it in 50 min with good stats and terms, I might need to drop the New...

    Modern history USA question

Thanks, I'm planning to remember stats and terms and have a rough plan to go into the exam for a few general questions and then just write as much as I can.

    Modern history USA question

This looks like a good way to do it, I was originally planning to do only the groups 2-5 and have fat paragraphs with pre and post depression info but this looks cleaner. How would you structure a "To what extent did Republican economic policy influence the Great Depression?"

    Modern history USA question

If I'm given an essay on the effects of the Great Depression on different groups in society, do I have to talk about the New Deal at all or just the actual effects on people?

    German Practice Responses

It also depends on what you speaking assessment is I guess, the HSC speaking assessment is different to the 2nd assessment speaking part (at least for me). For me the 2nd assessment is 15min convo about a novel with questions in regards to anything in the book and my analysis/criticism. The HSC...

    German Practice Responses

There is no point memorising it like a speech because at any time they can cut you off and ask you a question. It would make the most sense to have dot points of stuff that you can talk about for the main points, you can have a memorised intro but just know that you might not get to say all of...

How were your marks at the beginning of your HSC year compared to your marks at the end? And what was your ATAR?

What was your school rank? Those final marks seem so high compared to internals and HSC

    Failed an exam. Help.

What were the topics of your assessments out of curiosity? Also I don't think your % matters at all right now, it is all about your ranking in internals, I think, which given a good result in all but 1 task can still be high.

Is it recommended to do 12 units with a language in Yr 12

I don't know your situation but if you already know the language like many people who "study" a language then I consider it stupid to drop a subject. With prior knowledge of the language it takes up so little effort that you're already on 10 units and if you drop a subject it's like going down...

Has anyone done this and is it possible?

Can you please give your input on getting ahead on a term of work vs a whole year? Thanks for the long response, I have actually been taking notes and then going through topics already and I found it to help a lot. As for the past papers, that is my main reason for considering this so it's...

Has anyone done this and is it possible?

So would your suggestion be to go ahead for the term only or not at all? I would definitely say I'm above the average 2u student as I'm 2nd in my class only behind someone who has recently dropped from ext1 and on the previous and only Y12 2u test I beat the vast majority of the Ext students too.

Has anyone done this and is it possible?

I have unlimited free time these summer holidays, is is realistic to aim to complete all the HSC 2u unit math I need for the year? The work is not very difficult and I think this would be very beneficial as it would make my in school lessons revision and instead or in addition to homework I...

I am no longer interested in Biology.....

You need to understand that doing bad in bio will be really bad for your atar (even if it isn't that bad it should still be your mindset) and it will motivate you to study and work as hard as you can so you can get the best mark you possibly can. Complaining about a bad teacher is a waste of...
