NSW teachers proposing a strike on the 7th of December

Rightfully so. Teachers are criminally underpaid and deserve much more for the work they put in.

    Note taking: Laptop or Handwritten

I never wrote a single physical note in my entire HSC year whilst doing 5 units of history amongst my other subjects. For me theres honestly no point in creating physical notes because the notes are just tools you use to do well in an exam setting. What I would do was type up my notes, read...

    General Programming Thread

I think getting burnt out of programming made me look for deeper meaning in what I was doing. I'm no longer interested in just writing syntax for the sake of it, I've now taken my interests to why specifically my syntax does what it does, and how the mathematical applications in computer science...

    Who’s finished their exams

Plenty of time for that in uni :)

Thats so nice, I love the idea of later hours. What did you think of Comp1151? Do you think it's difficult do get a HD? Sorry for so many questions I'm just worried about WAM going into uni because I would like to do honours and am scared I wont maintain a good enough WAM...

    Who’s finished their exams

No point in repeating. If you don't do well the first time, the likelihood of you doing substantially better the second is very small. Its a whole year taken out of your life doing year 12 whilst your friends are going to uni and stuff, you would be so miserable.

    General Programming Thread

Yeah i've kind of had the same realisation with programming, seeing it as a means to an end rather than something I actively enjoy doing. Still, I do like creating new things its just I've gotten way more into the theory and the "why" of how computers do what they do. How is the cybersec major...

    General Programming Thread

I'm planning on going to UNSW but if I dont get in then I'll just take my UTS offer and transfer. Cybersec is really cool and if you do pursue it, UNSW has a major called "Security Engineering" which is all about cyber security. This is taken from the handbook: USYD is a solid choice as well...

I see, thank you for this explanation. All this time I've been thinking that pythonic ML was "too slow" to be using.

    General Programming Thread

Thats completely fine honestly and It's why I wanted to make a thread like this to expose people to programming. Your uni will teach the programming courses assuming that you don't know anything pretty much, and will start with the basics. I would advise doing some python stuff as a starting...

Thats sick! I wish you could have finished it, but I would love to see the video of it! Haha i relate to your hate of JS, sometimes it really is frustrating to work with.

    General Programming Thread

Python for machine learning is really easy to get into and I agree that its great for beginners but is it really the standard? I haven't been in any industry setting yet so I have no clue if what I'm saying is true but wouldn't something such as C# + cnk be more efficient? Sorry if it's a dumb...

    General Programming Thread

I started in year 4/5 with Python just making text based games and small text based projects. Then in high school I did a bunch of projects like creating the frontend of my schools website in HTML/CSS/AngularJS, creating some neural network based projects in C# + Unity and other less important...

    General Programming Thread

Your website is really well made and I love the colour palette! We are going into completely opposite fields sadly as I'm planning on doing more machine learning/neural network type research in the future but I do have some experience with frontend web dev from my earlier years of programming. I...

    General Programming Thread

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if anyone has posted a thread like this before but I thought it would be cool to have a thread where people who are interested in programming can post new stuff that they are creating, problems that they are struggling with, document their progress and ask for...

    History Extension Predictions/Thoughts

I do all 3 and am first in my class for all 3 as well. Its just memorisation and spamming practice papers honestly. Ive sent my teachers so many essays this year ive honestly lost count. I LOVED THAT FUCKING EXAM thank you nesa for being kind :)

    History Extension Predictions/Thoughts

I guess thats the hard part, like zbolland said it's mostly dependent on the question. For the first question what I like to do is identify schools of thought that I think will be relevant to my argument during my first read of the source, just so I can quickly grasp what quotes I'll need to be...
