There's no harm in trying it for a semester. Just because some people find it dry and boring doesn't mean you will as well. I'm halfway through a degree I want to change now and I really regret not playing around with my units earlier and getting a feel for what I want.

The standard ice breaker the first couple classes is 'Is this x class?'. Basically everyone is in the same boat as you and should be pretty willing to at least exchange pleasantries with you. If not, talk to someone else.

With the arts subjects I've done most have 2 hours of lectures and an hour of tutorials a week. Except for French. That was 4 hours per week.
