    OFFICIAL Easter Show Thread

Re: Selling showbags at the Easter Show :S Can you read? This is what I said But obviously the negatives e.g. lies and wasting tution money is not worth it. No she didn't. She raised the topic of work vs. study in general, and said there are benefits in work, which - no shit Sherlock there...

    OFFICIAL Easter Show Thread

Re: Selling showbags at the Easter Show :S Then could you care to explain how a whole threadful of people who have surplus work such as this: Can still struggle to find work like people who have limited or no experience? I agree, but doing ANY task can be argued as beneficial - joining a...

    OFFICIAL Easter Show Thread

Re: Selling showbags at the Easter Show :S It still comes back to what I said. Don't get a job unless you have a good reason too. In this student's case, you can see that his mother is paying tuition, and is really hoping he will do well. Hence, I see no reason why he needs this job - it's...

Re: Selling showbags at the Easter Show :S Lamest comebacks ever. If you're going to have an argument, have facts and prove a point instead of resorting to childish schoolgirl extremes "Oh, I'll study 24/7 and have no social life... wah." So much for communication skills eh? You're being...

    OFFICIAL Easter Show Thread

Re: Selling showbags at the Easter Show :S That's not true. There are people who have all the experience in the world, and can't bag a job. I quote from JB10: And he was struggling to find work... even with he surplus amount of experience. There are countless other similar cases, and...

    OFFICIAL Easter Show Thread

Re: Selling showbags at the Easter Show :S Then that's all the more reason not to. I also went to a selective school and it can get cut throat - 1 mark can be a difference of 30+ ranks in certain subjects e.g. Maths. I score the top marks in 3 consecutive exams and only moved up 1 rank...

    OFFICIAL Easter Show Thread

Re: Selling showbags at the Easter Show :S Unless you need cash fast (which I doubt a year 10 student would) stick to going to tutor - you don't need a job at the moment. And you're wasting a lot of cash skipping tutor... Year 10 is quite underrated, and that's why a bunch of people always...

Bookstore/Gamestore vacancies? How do you snag a job at one of these places?

Hey guys, after finishing the HSC, I'm eager to get a job, and have been handing out resumes after resumes to Borders/Dymocks/EB and GAME. I've also applied for Angus and Robertson online and have handed resumes from Ambervale (Macquarie Square in Campbelltown) to Parramatta. Does anyone have...

Transfer from UWS to any well known university

    Er...am I missing something here...? Alright. Great. 70 + 5 = 75 71 + 5 = 76 72 + 5 = 77 73 + 5 = 78.... So considering you got: You should've gotten in? And transfer really depends on where you want to work. UWS is fine for Campbelltown area.... It also depends...

Recommended Art units for Combined Law / In general?

Hey guys, I'm going to be doing Arts/Law in 2010, and with the surplus amount of choices in Arts, I was wondering what are some good choices to do with law, or just in general (I chose Arts purely for Ancient History, as Macq is known for having the best department in the country, and I didn't...

Recommended Art units for Combined Law.in general?

I posted this in the wrong section, soz guys, but plz answer in the 'Faculty of Arts' section Hey guys, I'm going to be doing Arts/Law in 2010, and with the surplus amount of choices in Arts, I was wondering what are some good choices to do with law, or just in general (I chose Arts purely...

    Is University overrated these days?

^ Acturial Studies is best at Macquarie (I might be wrong, but wasn't Macquarie the first uni that taught the subject?), and besides that, their Arts program is quite decent, and is much better than UNSW arts. If I had to rank NSW (metro area) unis based on Arts it would be USYD -> Macquarie ->...

    Who else can't find work?

Is there anyone willing to submit a link to their resume (change the names for security sake of course) so that we can see how a successful one looks like? So far I've been told a lot of conflicting messages....like a resume should be a brief, 1 page stunner to a resume ought to be endless pages...

Med or Combined Law more difficult to get into?

I have no idea what a 'troll' even was until I looked it up on wikipedia.... Besides, I don't see how this is off topic or inflammatory at all. If you've read the post, a lot of it is quite productive John555 was just stating that its a tendency for asians to do that - it wasn't that he...

Med or Combined Law more difficult to get into?

LOL! That is 100% true. This 20 second video best encapsulates how most Asian/Indian families operates: YouTube - You Doctor Yet? All laughs aside however, the truth is, that such families will not even consider the thought of 'doing what you want' - it's like arranged marriages, you're...

    Dilemma: MACQ or USYD

^ @ rx34 I thought it was great Uni as well, and had the same sentiment, but I think the choice to go there is too focused on location and ATAR cutoff - most people don't check the actual stats, and assume that its courses are a direct correlation with its high ATAR cutoff, when in truth, is not.

    Dilemma: MACQ or USYD

^ @ X2RADialbombe I was quite shocked too when I read about them. Here's the Top 12 Universities: 2009 THES-QS Top World 200 Ranking Times Higher Education Supplement University Rankings 1. Australian National University 2. University of Sydney 3. University of Melbourne 4...

    Dilemma: MACQ or USYD

^ @ lordpc Agreed. You need to sort out what your passion is, as Combined Law is a course that sees a LOT of students drop out due to their lack of passion, as they often view it as a high status course rather than it invoking any personal interest in it. It seems you're interested in Social...

Med or Combined Law more difficult to get into?

I agree about the 3rd section in UMAT, but besides that the first section isn't TOO bad, and the second section is a lot simpler if you have a broad vocabulary. I actually went through the process and I think it's really overrated. I can't even begin to tell you how often I'd hear complaints...
