    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

re: HSC Physics Marathon Archive Ohhh I see what I did wrong. Misread the question thinking 3.28 was given as a distance (i.e. light years).

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

    re: HSC Physics Marathon Archive 3.28 = \frac{4.367c\sqrt{1 - \frac{v^2}{c^2}}}{v} 3.28^2v^2 = 4.367^2c^2 - 4.367^2c^2 \times \frac{v^2}{c^2} 3.28^2v^2 + 4.367^2v^2 = 4.367^2c^2 v = \sqrt{\frac{4.367^2c^2}{3.28^2 + 4.367^2}} v = 2.40 \times 10^8 \ m \ s^-^1

    Chem/Physics/Bio longer response questions

I don't think we're allowed. We were marked down for our trials if the scientist wasn't real. Luckily Alan Hemmings just happened to be an Australian environmental chemist. :)

Good work! Also PFC's, although they can carry a lot of oxygen, they can't release it.

    Biology 2013ers MARATHONN

It is but it isn't :L The original leaned more towards how the research has impacted scientific understanding whereas the other one is about why there is research into it in the first place.

    Biology 2013ers MARATHONN

My mistake. Yeah I think I worded the question too weirdly. What I did mean was: Explain why research into the production of artificial blood is required. In this case, fionarykim's answer is correct. However if the question was actually "explain why research into the production of artificial...

    Chem/Physics/Bio longer response questions

For Biology I'm thinking it will either be something about evolution, quarantine or genetic engineering. For Chemistry I think effects of sulfur/nitrogen oxides or conditions for the Haber process. Not too sure about Physics hmm.

    HSC 2013 Maths Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2013 2U Marathon \int \frac{1}{xlnx} \ dx \int \frac {1}{x} \times \frac{1}{lnx} \ dx \int \frac{\frac{1}{x}}{lnx} \ dx Since \ y = lnx, \ then \ y' = \frac{1}{x} \therefore \int \frac{1}{xlnx} \ dx = ln(lnx) + c

Not necessarily. How did you relate time and place though?

    Hamlet

I talked about the complexity of choices and how Gertrude's choice to commit incest in order to satisfy Denmark's desire for a warrior king is representative of the corruption of her religious path, especially in a time where religion was the focal point of society.

    Tips for Section 1 ?

    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive Hmm good question. I would assume it was different to strong bases since the reaction wouldn't involve the standard hydronium and hydroxide ion reaction but I'm not too sure about weak bases.
