    What are you currently Reading?

Dunno what you'd define as dense then frankly, it was a brilliantly convoluted story and Orwell pulls no punches in using sophisticated language. I suppose it has a fairly decent pace.

    What are you currently Reading?

1984 is pretty dense, that you enjoyed it doesn't necessarily make it light reading.

    What are you currently Reading?

If you're trying to read Austen I wouldn't start with Emma, it's the most uneventful, laboriously written, sentimental of all her works. Sense and Sensibility is the busiest, easiest read by far.

    Theatre Thread!

Just saw Miriam Margolyes in Dickens Women, absolutely extraordinary. I didn't want her to end, I loved her before and I love her even more now.

    Second chances?

Yeeeaaah dunno if I agree about the chivalry part. I think a lot of notions of chivalry are a bit patronizing but at the same time I think we often conflate ideas of chivalry with politeness into the same thing. I think the idea of a man assuming some sort of heroic protector role for these...

    What are you currently Reading?

Perhaps but no human should ever be forced to endure them.

    What are you currently Reading?

For future reference, next time you find yourself asking "is it just meor..." it's probably safe to assume it's just you. Not that I've ever been to a book club but I imagine a Coldplay concert for example would be less pleasant.

Is it possible to love someone and dislike them at the same time?

Wuthering Heights should be prerequisite reading to post in this section, gosh.

Given an ultimatum that could change my future entirely...help?

He might be, but there must be something about him for her to "love him very much" as she put it.

Given an ultimatum that could change my future entirely...help?

You don't know his circumstances. The agony of being in love and not knowing if the relationship is going to survive a certain impasse can be so intense as to make a person hastily bring it to end, just to get some certainty. They don't do it because they want it to end, but because they just...

    Eurovision 2012.

Dunno what you two are squabbling about, frankly I thought both of them (and the rest of Scandinavia cept Sweden) sent pretty anemic acts this year.

We both understood what the other was doing perfectly, you can pretend otherwise but you know the truth.

    Men's Bags

Got one of these from Roger David yesterday, it's not the most regal bag you'll ever find but at that price I'm more than happy with it. http://www.rogerdavid.com.au/accessories/big-black-bag.html

    Eurovision 2012.

The UK wasn't actually bad in any sense he just lacked a quality which set him out from the pack. I agree Israel were my favourite song of the comeptition, it was just pure enjoyment to watch and listen to. Cyprus was my pick of the serious entries. Also I agree with someone on twitter who said...

Given an ultimatum that could change my future entirely...help?

You watch your mouth, that's the love of her life you're talking about there. What kind of unromantic twit are you? Did you read Wuthering Heights and think "She's not worth it Heathcliffe, just move on if she is even considering marrying Linton she clearly doesn't love you enough."
