    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread A more contemporary one is that Dhoni is driving home one night and is pulled over by the police and they ask him to take the breathalyzer and produces a note from a dr explaining that "this man is an asthmatic, please don't take breath out of him." So they tel...

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Wow that joke is like older than Tendulkar. Was probably first used before India even played test cricket. Typically aussies have said it about England.

    Australian Politics

I agree that Crean is the wrong move but those are the noise coming out of Sussex street. His bravado defenses of Gillard (or his harsh attacks on Rudd) are playing well with the big chunk of caucus who believes she is a good Prime Minister but not a great politician. I gather Shorten is not...

    Australian Politics

Gillard will be gone by September. If she goes sooner it'll probably be Crean or Smith, if it happens later Rudd's momentum will be too great to stave off.

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

Re: The Official Cricket Thread IPL teams are businesses, these auctions are not simply about getting good players but building up a popular franchise. You'll notice RP Singh was bought for 600 grand but nobody even made a bid on James Anderson, local favourites will pull crowds etc. It's like...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread You get less idiots in the crowd when the home nation isn't playing I've noticed. Then again some people seem to think the appeal of live sport is the idiots.

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread It's 20-20 nobody cares, he was probably played precisely because he is out of form, let him continue to face international bowling in meaningless mickey mouse games so by the time real cricket starts up again he might have dug himself out of the rut somewhat.

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

Don't verbal me, I said I had no problem with the polices actions. But I do therefore take it that you're saying the most sinister thing they did was bang on windows?

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

An act of violence should pretty much always result in a charge of assault and or battery if police are on the spot yes.

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

What walking around and shouting? Far as I saw in that video every action that might have been intended to cause harm came from the police.

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

I have scanned countless news reports trying to find any actual mention of violence in these "violent protests", there were no arrests made, no injuries sustained, no litigation resulting from it. As far as any paper has reported all they did was turn up outside the restaurant, shout some stuff...

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

People like you just have a militant desire to come across as fuckwits don't you?

Oh sorry, psychology. btw I'm still waiting to hear why you thought the overturning of Don't ask don't tell was a joke.

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

They don't have violence in common, that was the point. What was violent about the protests on Australia day? They assembled and they shouted they weren't rioting.

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

I was referring to crowd violence.

POLITICAL TRAP: Gillard, Abbott hide from angry protesters

Exactly what did they do that was so outrageous exactly? Congregate in the same place and yell stuff? There's more violence at a typical rugby league match and most of it will never be reported.
