    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread I know these guys are capable of miracles but say India rally and reply with 650 runs this innings, now they'd probably get it mid late on day five leaving Australia a little over a session on a fifth day scg pitch to get the remaining runs, extraordinarily all...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Why would he declare so early? Really if Australia can't bowl India out in two whole days they don't particularly deserve to win.

That last one seems to be good advice.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Roughly the same age as Waugh when he retired and generally speaking Ponting has always been more athletic than Waugh was, also in reality I reckon 40 year old Ponting would be more athletic than thirty five year old Lehman, Taylor or Warne. More of a question...

    Republican Primaries

There was always going to be a significant chunk of the vote directed to a conventional hardline, right wing christian conservative. I wrongly picked that the Newt with his experience in federal politics would be the one they rallied around but it is for the same reason we saw Bachman, then...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Gambhir has a future, Laxman does not. Plus Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina are promising young middle order batsman , not openers. Finally Gambhir might feasibly regain some form if he actually gets some time in the middle, Laxman has spent some time in the middle...

Read about me...and recommend me a book! GO GO GO

Possibly Campaign Ruby by Jessica Rudd, contrary to some of the reviews its not really about politics its about her relationship with her sister, aunt, boss and former boyfriend. Lots of pop cultural references to clothing fashion and makeup etc.

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread It's been tried many times since the 80's, if you don't have a competent spinner it doesn't work terrifically. Ideally of course you have someone like Watson or Kallis in the side. If the batsman get settled and move past about 350 and you have four seamers they...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Where do you sit? if your side on then yeah watch the screens but if your behind the bowlers arm (and you've got fairly keen eyesight) its a waste to just look at the screen.

    Republican Primaries

Ok I'd say Romney's done enough to lock it in now, although I reject that he was there all along, Newt was a genuine threat and still is the runner up for certain. Paul has run a brilliant campaign but he is just running on too many positions that won't have traction with swinging voters.

    The Cricket Thread

Re: The Official Cricket Thread It's hard to tell after one test, he could have been underprepared but Laxman looked absolutely useless when he was out there. This big, lumbering figure who was slow on his timing, misjudging the line etc. The rest (didn't see Kholi bat really) looked like they...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread Laxman has been brought in and out a lot more than the others. He has had a very good run in Australia which has skewed a lot of peoples views of him when in fact he has had a frightfully inconsistent career, yo-yoing in and out of form a lot. But it's difficult...
