    Libertarian movement

How exactly will people protecting themselves from other people reduce freedoms, and to such a great extent that there would be less individual freedom overall than there is when people are controlled by the ever-expanding government of a nation state?

    Libertarian movement

If you can't identify these coercive bodies, how can you substantiate your claim that they will come to exist at all?

Hahahahahahaha I post smart link. I take words from link. I am intellectual. Nice try, I love it when you smug, autofellating third wayers constantly talk down to others while stumbling over your vague Keynesian half-arguments.

    Libertarian movement

You clearly don't understand the link you have provided. That oversimplified summary lacking any detail or explanation as to how exactly the material provided is relevant to the discussion at hand shows your inability to articulate what I can only assume is a half baked, poorly constructed...

    Hardcore Punk

Wouldn't miss it. One of the most intense live bands around.

    Libertarian movement

No it isn't, that's just an excuse. Many parents consider their children's opinions based on merit. Not doing this is foolish, even if it is very common.

    Libertarian movement

I feel your pain dude, though in a different way - my dad's a fundie. I've met very few people with more authoritarian political beliefs. It's difficult with parents because they will nearly always dismiss your views as naive and juvenile when they conflict with their own. That's my experience...

    Libertarian movement

Multiple individuals that have posted in this thread consider it morally acceptable to kill his dad in circumstances which may arise simply due to him performing his duty as a police officer.

    Welfare system reform.

I didn't even mention the involvement of transfer payments, and obviously that conflicts with my main point that they are almost always ineffective and commonly abused Sure they do. This is commonly the case with larger charities. Private charities very rarely turn ordinary individuals away...

    Welfare system reform.

It was a suggested example of an alternative way the government could provide food/clothing etc to the poor, not a comprehensive replacement system. How could private charity possibly work effectively and not be subject to the same problems? Free goods being taken advantage of occurs regardless...

    Welfare system reform.

Well I can't sincerely keep defending the idea because I agree with basically every objection you've made. Attempting to argue in favour of an idea based on accepting a premises I vehemently oppose was never likely to work all that well, but *whatever* Alright, another idea. What if welfare was...

    Welfare system reform.

As the welfare state seems as if it will inevitably remain a relatively permanent fixture in government, if it must exist I was thinking about how it could be improved. Technology could play a very useful role here. Obviously food stamps don't work, but it would be perfectly possible to prevent...

    Welfare system reform.

As stated above, I'm not in favour of controlling how individuals spend their own money, these are limitations on what is provided by others. The purpose of the welfare state is to apparently provide a safety net for the underpriveliged, if this is the case it should be directed towards...

    Welfare system reform.

Inspired by the recently deleted thread discussing the treatment of Indigenous people- Australia's current welfare system operates primarily through providing direct cash payments to those on low incomes or otherwise viewed by the government as in need of financial support. Firstly, this is an...
