    Rudd to build broadband network

Oh, I figured bos was just down for me for some odd reason, I guess I missed the windows when it was actually up because there's been a page of posts since I was last able to get in. Anyhow - it seems that the after the sell off of the NBN after completion no entity can own more than 20% of it...

    Rudd to build broadband network

Reading up on this^ now. That's point to point though, wouldn't ISPs normally provide this as a shared medium?

    Rudd to build broadband network

Fiber won't be overtaken by wireless alternatives anytime soon. AFAIK fiber is only limited by the speed of light isn't it? NTT Japan is currently pushing 14Trillion bits down a single strand of fiber and increasing this simple by upgrading the switches at each end, not having to actually change...

Link isn't working for me. What pipe stuff are you talking about? The 1.4XTb/s pipe they are opening? Australia needs more international pipes so we can get rid of this quota BS imo. Whilst FTTN may have been enough to suffice for the next couple years we would have had to rip that out...

    Rudd to build broadband network

Yeah, they have an absolute monopoly atm - they are the only wholesaler, a fucking tragedy imo. Yeah, gave the other ISPs a fighting chance by letting them use their own equipment instead of using Telstra's ports but this only helps for ADSL2+. All ISPs still have to use Telstra's equipment for...

    Rudd to build broadband network

Labor plans to sell off the government's share within 5 years of completion anyway. Re: Internet censorship: The network will be wholesale and open access. If the system is open access, then you don't have to use their backhaul or interconnects. Doesn't this mean that the company is...

    Reading Fesitval 09

Yeah there's a movie too, watched it in 3D for $20 at Greater Union. The 3D effects were excellent but the actual movie was tripe imo, waste of $20.

LOL. I'm serious - you made me lol when you claimed that they 'invented a whole new genre'. MBV: You have no credible taste in music if you think MGMT suck. EDIT: Thought we were talking about Bullet for my Valentine NOT My Bloody Valentine.

    The McDonald's Thread

Hi thread, I have two questions: 1. Does this Saturday mean penalty rates for us burger flippers? It counts as a public holiday on: NSW Office of Industrial Relations, Public Holidays 2. What are our penalty rates for a public holiday? Double time? Coles is double time and a half :O.

are you rich? if yes, you're automatically a liberal voter.

Just curious, what are your views on the environment? I think it was Graney(?) who pointed out last night that the libertarian idea that the free markets would take care of the environment and that heritage funds etc would buy up the places worth protecting is pretty retarded. On topic though...
