Noah's ark is a story of God saving righteous people whilst destroying the sinful, interpreting the story as an explanation of how the animals were saved is flawed, because it's not what the story intends

the bible does not claim that Noah's ark is a tale of advanced zoological skill on Noah's part, it is a deomonstration of God's power, not Noah's. obviously Noah and his small cohort couldn't maintain the animals.
