Why is Medicine harder to get in than Law?

1/ Medical training positions are tightly regulated, unlike law. It's a significant achievement to get into medicine at any Aussie uni, but there are a few Aussie unis which have very lax requirements for law. 2/ It will be a cold day in hell when an Australian medical graduate can't gain an...

Such a site would be useless if it did exist. I've never been given a choice of units or lecturers.

    2007 THES Rankings

Re: 回覆: Re: 2007 THES Rankings I was surprised by the low ranking of Stanford, especially with it being lower than UChicgo and ANU. There are plenty of Asian universities which are infinitely better resourced, more selective, and which produce more hard research than the ANU and other Go8...

    2007 THES Rankings

The methodology is deeply biased against universities in non-English speaking nations. I think it especially inflates Australia's ranking.

    Medical Radiation Science?

This degree will qualify you as a radiographer or radiation therapist, depending on your specialisation. I'm studying this in Queensland. I did two specialised physics courses in the first year (fairly difficult, harder than grade 12 at least). But the hardest units are anatomy. Job...

    how many...

Most seem not to. There's probably even more oversupply of psychology students than there are of law students. Here's where psych grads at my university wind up: http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/9813/psychcoqtp0.jpg

    Pharmacy and the future

It's usual for universities to include irrelevent boring crap in practically orientated courses. I endured 4 semesters of anatomy and 2 semesters of physics. I might use a bit of anatomy, but the phsyics is utterly useless. The question shouldn't be whether you enjoy studying pharmacy, it...

    ADF Gap Year

It doesn't matter how many millions they spend on advertising or gimmicks. They'll tread water until they overhaul their pathetic recruitment system. They need to bring recruitment back in house - stop outsourcing recruitment operations to cheesy HR companies.

    which uni is 'best'?

Australian unis aren't as segregated as in the UK/USA. I don't think there is a "best" or "worst " uni. There's definitely no elite unis. There's elite degrees, but they are randomly distributed among the unis. I'd rather earn a medicine/dentistry/pharmacy/optometry/radiography/engineering...

Special APEC Laws (relating to police powers)

Our government should not fear free expression. Possible "embarrassment" to politicians does not justify the suppression of dissent.

    Interest Rate Rise

I support higher interest rates. Highly indebted people will lose out, but it will make houses affordable. I remember just 10 years ago, there were often plenty of decent houses in my suburb of Brisbane for $100k. I know that we'll never see that again, but $200k would be nice. At least it...

    Aeronautical/Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering

1/ Vehicle manufacturing is the lynchpin of Australia's heavy industrial base. 2/ ... 3/ Yes, engineers are free to become public servants. But the fact remains, that the private sector tends to employ most engineering grads.

Real estate in the United States

There are also ridiculously cheap houses in Detroit - a city as large as Brisbane. I've looked online for houses in rural Queensland (where I will be working once I graduate). I'm talking small rural towns like Cloncurry, Roma, Longreach. These aren't boom towns - they are economically...

Real estate in the United States

I looked online, and found plenty of very affordable homes in American cities. In Brisbane, it's difficult to find even vacant blocks for less than $150,000 but I've found decent looking homes in the USA for $10,000. For example...

    SDA Union

My SDA shop steward pressured me to work 15 unpaid minutes every shift, cleaning up equipment. It's a shit union, which seems overly cosy with employer groups. Definitely not worth the union dues, although they'll probably intimidate you (calling you a "freeloader") if you withdraw.
