    TAFE vs Uni learning style?

TAFE is slower paced and the content is delivered in a way that is easier to understand. TAFE also requires less attendance depending on the course that you're taking. Having done both those are the 2 key differences. I did a stint in the IT industry and while you can succeed without a...

Is this an opportunity I should take?

Take the cadet's opportunity and adjust your study schedule to accommodate for the gap. It will be very hard work but the benefits will outweigh the cost. The 3 bonus points will greatly assist your entrance into a university course of your choosing. Employers look very favorably on...

    Flexible Uni courses

Commerce, Arts, Science and Engineering are nice generalist degrees with a large scope of majors & units of study. At USYD and UTS i was also able to select subjects from other courses to a limited extent. If you're a recent school leaver or current HSC student i recommend looking into taking...

    borrowing money from bank

Different operating model. Apply for something akin to youth allowance or the dole if you're old enough.

    borrowing money from bank

Credit decisions are indiscriminate of your situation. For a $2k loan you need to give proof of income in some capacity. If you need financial aid due to a poor situation there are other types of companies that can help you with that. If you miss payments regularly you will also mess up your...

    Year 12 to Uni

No. Unless it's for a scholarship they look at your ATAR only plus any bonus points.

What you wish you knew before starting UNI

Also if you want to go into business or IT look into after school traineeships now as youre too late for cadetships and coops.

What you wish you knew before starting UNI

Don't fully focus yourself on uni as its a means to an end. If you dont plan to graduate in the top 5 of your class you should be networking within your industry and constantly looking for experience. If not you'll struggle.

Bad TRIALS...is there hope for hsc

Your HSC exams are the deciding factor of your ATAR. All of your work up until now only accounts for 50% of your mark. I know its been a long journey for you but let that sink in for a minute. Then start working harder than you ever have

    Any motivational HSC stories?

Doing bad in the trials is irrelevant at this point as they're already done. All that one has control over is their future and you'll lose nothing by hammering down now for what is effectively worth the other 50% of your mark. 50% is a very big number.

    First Year I.T. subjects

Applications programming is an advanced version of programming fundamentals. You need to constantly stay on top of things and it has a very high fail rate. Networking Fundamentals is very content heavy but not as technical as Applications Programming. I'm not sure of the exam dates but...

    Meetups

I knew many people in my first year that were big into tech start ups. The top 2 programs that come to my head are 1. Project Pitch - http://utsprojectpitch.com.au/ (This is coming up in September and you can do some great networking and win a very generous prize pool) 2. The Hatchery -...

The Official UTS Subject Reviews Thread (Table of Contents on First Post)

Thanks for the contribution - i have updated the thread and enjoy a bit of extra rep :) My question to everyone: would you like these reviews dated so that you can gauge their relevancy with a single glance at the thread? If the demand is there it's something that i am very willing to spend...

I'm trying to play through The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the first time. The game has always interested me but i have only now decided to jump in. With the 1080p resolution mod it's aged amazingly well :D

Tonight should i cram an all nighter for trials?

I crammed mod c walking into the exam and still got 14/20 with 2 quotes in the entire essay . My crowning achievement tbh.

Tonight should i cram an all nighter for trials?

Depends how screwed you are. If you dont have the core knowledge to do well in the exam all the sleep in the world isn't going to help you - in this case i recommend it. Just be sure to look after yourself and not push too hard.

I'm doing bad for English Adv. but I'm doing ok for the others

Learn how to manage English. By making this thread you know yourself that it's important. While it's not great at the moment your HSC mark can bring that up well if you do well.

how competitive will it be to get a job after graduating from uni

Play the game smart and you'll be OK. My recommendation is that in a 4 year degree you need to accumulate at-least 2 years of relevant industry experience to be in a comfortable position.
