I was experiencing this as well then I changed the batteries the night before which made the calculator perform very fast in today's exam If you're going to overclock the calculator you might as well add a cosair liquid cooling system and a mad graphics card

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive I was typing up the same thing but my internet crashed @anousha The thing about ethanol being carbon neutral isn't entirely true due to the carbon dioxide released from the machinery involved in the process such as harvesting the crop, its transportation...

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive I don't think anyone will be willing to do it haha By the time you do your HSC you would have encountered the same question plenty of times

help with the hardest question in the universe

T stands for term By doing that you will find the common ratio (It's how to prove if something is a GP) For an AP: T2 - T1 = T3 - T2

    2015ers Chit-Chat Thread

Things work differently in the exam room - You're not in the comfort of your room, you're going to hear pens clicking, people mumbling/groaning, papers flipping, etc. and that paper was criticised by the students for being easy so don't get too complacent.

help with the hardest question in the universe

Since you proved similar triangles earlier on From (i) q / 8 = 27 / p (Corresponding sides of similar triangles are in proportion) From (ii) q / p = p / 8 (Corresponding sides of similar triangles are in proportion) Then you show that there is a common ratio by using...

Is Interest Included in the Exam?

You're going to have to derive the equations based on GP - It all depends on the conditions, such as how often interest is payed (e.g. monthly, quarterly), the principle amount borrowed, repayments, etc.

How do you prove something is tangetnt to something else?

It will have no roots so triangle/discriminant < 0 Have a look at this: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=positive+definite&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=667&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMI1sSExMLQyAIVxJCUCh3ZBwBN#imgrc=IC8t-EQ5DvhGFM%3A

How do you prove something is tangetnt to something else?

There are two ways to prove that it is increasing for a certain value: 1) Use the first derivative method 2) Prove that it is a positive definite (i.e. The discriminant is zero but the coefficient of x^2 is positive - It will look like a concave up parabola above the x-axis with no roots)

Have you tried de-activating God Mode and saving it for the exam?

    Differentiate cosx/sinx ?

    Wait I think I understand where you might be having troubles If you sub it in then you get -sin^2(x) - cos^2(x) / sin^2(x) = - ( sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) ) / sin^2(x) Using the identity sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1 = - 1 / sin^2(x) Using normal trig ratios = - cosec^2(x)
  20. Crisium

    Differentiate cosx/sinx ?

    cos (x) / sin (x) u = cos (x) v = sin (x) u' = -sin (x) v' = cos (x) Quotient Rule: (vu' - uv') / v^2 Sub in the values above and you should have the answer :)
