    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

    re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive Degree of Ionisation (DOI) = [H+ ions in solution] / [Original Solution] x 100 [H+] = 10^-pH [H+ ions in solution] = 10^-3 = 0.001 M DOI = 0.001 / 0.1 x 100 = 1% Since Degree of Ionisation is 1%, that means that 1% of acid molecules are converted to ions...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

    I did something like 1/3(33000n + 1500n) > 87500, Then its like 11500n > 87500, n > 7.6, So it's 8 years. Dunno if this is legit, but it worked out for me :D

    Section I - Multiple Choice

Well, we get to keep the papers, so I just look back at it, I circled it for future reference. xD

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

Use the Cos rule, but replace RB with (100-50t) (cause it travels at 50km/h from a spot 100km away) and RA with 80t. So its like.. r^2 = (100-50t)^2 + (80t)^2 - 2(100-50t)(80t)Cos 60 And then it ends up to what it's meant to be.

    Proving Max points necessary?

There was a question that was "Find the minimum distance between the cars" today, were we meant to prove it was minimum, cause I didn't want to spend a lot of time, and just left that out but I think I got the distance right.

    HSC 2013 Maths Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2013 2U Marathon Oh right, I understand now, you round all the decimals up, so 3.01 becomes 4, 301.03 becomes 302. I see.

    HSC 2013 Maths Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2013 2U Marathon You wrote 1000 x log2 = 301.030 and then changed it to equal 301.02? I don't understand the working o.O, how is 3.01 = 4 digits?

    HSC 2013 Maths Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2013 2U Marathon Need a little last minute help: Can someone explain why the discriminant has to be less than 0, because I thought that meant that there are no real roots. And what the heck does the Note mean. (Question at bottom and answer is at the top, it's from 2010 HSC...

    Pen Or Pencil for graphs?

I'm used to doing everything using pen, never got marked down, but i dunno now, since it wasn't scanned, so when I drew a bad graph, I would just cross it out, might look bad on presentation. If you're worried, I guess you can draw it pencil and then write over it with pen? unless you're...

    2013 HSC questions prediction

Hoping for minimal probability/proving (geometry) and for some reason I always get confused with money payments.

    Proving Max points necessary?

Yeah, if it explicitly tells you to prove it, of course I will. But like, what if it says show that max is "bla bla bla".

    Proving Max points necessary?

I notice that in some of the sample answers of past exams, for questions like "Hence show the maximum area is ... cm^2", the sample answers include an area where the person actually tests that it is a max, by testing 1 up and 1 down. Is that test actually necessary? Because I have never gotten...

    Calculating Real GDP

How do you do this question? From HSC 2006 Question 12 I ended up with the answer B using the following working out however the answer is A: Inflation Rate = 125-110/110 = 13.6% Real GDP = Nominal (820) / 1.136 = 721.6 My working out ignores the second part "compared to the base year" as...
