    HSC subjects

Physics and Biology scale much higher than Japanese, especially Physics. With your subjects I would lean more to Ext.2 Maths, unless you really like English. It depends whether you like Maths or English more, therefore giving you motivation to do better in them

    Drop extension math?

I say see what you get in your final exam mark and then maybe make your mind up? And depends if you need it and find it really good as well? Pros of dropping: you get more time for your other subjects, more class time in SOR Cons of dropping: it could bring down your atar if you do well in it...

What subjects to keep and what to drop for HSC?

I'd drop chem if I hated it that much, although it is ranked really well and if you didn't do so well in general maths that would be the better subject to keep. So either maths or chemistry

Good textbooks for biology, chemistry and physics?

What textbooks do people best recommend for bio, chem and physics? And also, best study techniques for the sciences? Thanks guys

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

Oh wow! Thank you so much! No that gave me a pretty rough idea, so what about if you get a band 3 or something in ext.maths 2, would that be still better than getting say a band 5 in ancient history? Yeah uni anywhere, I was thinking I might do an undergraduate course first like medical science...

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

Thank you for the advice. Yeah you are right, but do you think a couple weeks of 14 units will be so bad? So is ancient actually scaled lowly? What atar is needed for medicine? And I don't particularly want to drop a science because I especially need bio and chem for medicine, and I am doing...

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

Yeah that's the issue, cause it's not one of my subjects for the HSC, and it takes up 5-10 hours a week, but I thought maybe having piano lessons it would be a break, so I have something to go to that isn't school related, but I'm not sure. I think 14 is an extremely safe option, so I think...

    Year 11 Subject Selections

Seems like you are good at maths and science so I would definitely pick physics! I do it and it is so interesting and it involves maths, a bonus is you understand it. And also depends what you want to do when you finish high school if you have any idea? PDHPE is low scaled if that concerns you...

subject selection for y11!!Please help me:)

Do you have any idea on what you want to do when you finish high school? although you still have a while to go! My opinion would be that photography would be a waste of time considering it is not a board developed subject and does not count if you are aiming for a HSC. Although alot of my...

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

Wow, thanks so much. Yeah I agree 14 is a bit of a massive workload, and I suppose 10 weeks of the HSC of deciding what to keep is a bit of a time waster. I'm just so unsure which subjects I will do better in, I think I might see what my marks are at the end of the year and maybe decide on that...

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

So 12 units? So lucky, 9 would be bliss

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

Good plan! Yeah that's true, but just not sure if it will benefit me having a smaller workload? I love the content in Ancient, just I seem to be getting terrible marks at it, so it makes me like it less I suppose

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

Thank you! Yeah I'm not sure about piano hey. I want to either try getting into medicine or do medical science. I think keeping the three sciences would benefit, although physics not so much. But also they are probably my better subjects

Extension 2 maths or Ancient History?

Hi guys, After this term year 12 begins and I'm unsure of what subjects to drop/keep etc. Also with piano lessons, deciding whether to keep them or stop. I'm tossing up in a decision of: 1) dropping Ancient, keeping 11 units (Adv.eng, bio, chem, phys, 3unit maths) also keeping piano 2) keep...

Help with Year 10 Subject Selection!

Definitely do Chemistry and Bio! Modern History goes well with Extension English 1 and even Advanced, apparently a bigger workload than Ancient but also scaled higher. Although Ancient is amazingly interesting. I think Ancient and Modern are good for prelim because they are flexible with what...

Is 11 units better than 13?

Okay thanks guys! I will probably most definitely drop Ancient, does anyone know if it is ranked low?

Is 11 units better than 13?

Apparently statistics say that people with 12 units plus get a higher atar, but I am highly thinking of dropping to 11 units because I am getting terrible marks in Ancient history, but I am nervous if I flunk out in another subject it will decrease my atar, I do chem, bio, physics, ancient, 3U...
