    Coping with bad teacher

I mean to be clear, whether you get a good mark or not is self study, ultimately you have to write and analyse by yourself. But if you were going to pick a subject to do tutoring, and your english teacher is non-existent, then I'd probably pick english. Then again I feel like most people don't...

    Coping with bad teacher

for math self study with textbooks, past papers and other resources (mb competition maths for hard Qs) for english find online notes and exemplar responses, then write out timed essays for practise on different questions. there is not much you can do in class but make notes o. your texts. if...

Tips and advice on how to memorize notes better

in my experience: for essays, practice writing out a timed essay (this helps memorise quotes the best for me) for chemistry write down a question, for ex. draw a table of flame tests or smth, and repeatedly go back to it. This is good for a lot of the specific stuff they want you to memorise for...

    Induction

this question is also kind of weird / its derivative of LHS>=RHS= 2 - 1/n which I think is a more well known inequality.

    Induction

Yes it should be correct. I would just prove that -1/(k+1) + 1/(k+1)^2 >= -1/(k+2) but it might be slightly longer.

    Weird polynomials question

There is definitely a shorter way to do this, hopefully the image is clear enough. Its question 4a) ii)

i got the solution with calculus, ill write it out later if anyone wants it

    Weird polynomials question

If the equation has a double root, show that I tried to solve this using calculus and a bunch of simultaneous equations, individually solving for p and q to get the LHS but cannot simplify for the RHS. I've worked on this for a couple hours and will probably get it eventually but if someone...

    Sr potential?

Extension 2 is good if you like maths. It essentially means that maths will make up a higher percentage of your ATAR which is good if its your best subject. I would say roughly that the jump from advanced to ext 1 is a bit less than the jump from ext 1 to ext 2. In terms of ranks if there is...

    de moivres theorem

i think you substitute z=cistheta and divide by z^3 on both sides. then like using z^n+z^-n=2cosntheta to get the rest of it.

    Mr Shen maths tutor

its $30 per hour for me but it think it varies depending on grade and whether do you the 4u or 3u class. I guess since I do 4 hours a week (both 3u and 4u) its not that cheap in total but per hour its ok, like I've seen other places charge $90/hr.

    Mr Shen maths tutor

I go to Mr Shen currently, and tbh It really depends on whether you'll find value in his class. I personally I found the class to be really good when I joined in year 10 probably because it ran at a faster pace and it was actually engaging for me to work through all of the worksheets he'd give...

    thank you very sir

    Prove |z+w|<=|z|+|w|

you have to start with this: where z, w are any complex numbers And prove: My method: let Z,W be conjugates of z,w - expand RHS then if the thing is true then: square both sides: and then I'm stuck. I saw another guy do the question on stack exchange and they basically got to the...

    integral volume question

Find the equation of the tangent to the parabola y=2x^2 at (1,2). Calculate its point of intersection with the x-axis and the volume of the solid formed when the area between the parabola, the tangent line and the x axis is revolved about the axis. got a different answer, its apparently 2pi/3...
