start your work before, hopefully not during, and straight after xmas.

have a break in the new year, start working on your hsc subjects (does not include ext2 eng :p) -- be prepared and do some research/composition before the viva voces (speaking/oral assessment task). after your viva's, you can take it easy for a little while (months), but be sure to have your entire major work completed by july/august at the latest. (i recommend june, so you'll leave plenty of time for your reflection statement/report).

...or drop it if you're not an english freak :D

sheet and i was planning a x2 math crash course over the xmas holidays so i can get that outta the way.. nooo my contingency plans ruined!

i type fast. a 8000 word major work will take me just under two hours to type. :D oh shit but i have to think. :( why do i have to start / finish so early?
