Hey everyone, I'm not sure about this question

Which of the following religious traditions had the greatest rate of membership increase
between 1991 and 1996?

Religious Affiliation in Australia

Buddhism: 1991 -- 139 795. 1996 -- 199 812
Christianity: 1991 -- 12 465 644. 1999 -- 12 582 764
Islam: 1991 -- 147 507. 1996 -- 200 885
Judaism: 1991 -- 74 266. 1996 -- 79 805
A) Buddhism
(B) Christianity
(C) Islam
(D) Judaism

The answer is A. But isn't a rate, in maths terms, the change of something over time? So the rate of increase would be, for say Islam, 200885 - 147507 divided by 5 (years) Doing it this way, the highest rate of increase is in Christianity. The only way I could come up with Buddhism having a higher number is dividing the 1996 number by the 1991 number. Maybe my maths just sucks. I know I'm making a bit of a deal out of things, but if they ask a question like this again I wanna know what's going on.

(P.s. this isn't my account, most of the time I'm cracker barrel)[/LEFT]

edit: Damn, I can't make a table.

The numbers are a distractor. The assumption is that you will just know the answer. (even though its not really in the syllabus as such)

This must be an old question as Islam is now the fastest growing religion/has seen the most rapid growth (since the 2001 census) (I think?)
edit...saw that its a 2002 question

BTW they wouldnt ask a question comparing old figures as they have to use up to date facts if they do a similar question...but remember ITS ALL SMOKE AND MIRRORS..............
