Hey all,

I took the time to write up some solutions (hand written).

Let me know what you think of my answers..do you agree or disagree?

B.t.w. I did all these in the exam apart from the final question 10(b)(ii).

Thanks.

Note: Q4(c)(iv) asked for major sector; I found the minor sector. Therefore, the correct answer should be: 5n/2 units squared.
(this answer was later found in part (v) i.e. A(Shaded-Circle-C)
Thanks for letting me know.

Hey thanks! This'll give me a good idea of how i went. I got an answer wrong in question1 cos I was careless T_T

Edit: Ah...it seems i really did do one of those last-minute-changes-to-the-wrong-answer :( I had November 2010 and then at the very end when I came back to it i punched it into the calculator wrong twice so i crossed out the right answer T_T
But I fluked the locus question...that cheers me up :D

Good stuff, you just gave me a lot more confidence with what I've done haha. I made a stupid error with October/November and a couple of other silly mistakes, but most of the marks I lost out on I just didn't do.

The only one I'm not sure I agree on is 9)c)ii) and iii)
I might have got the same as you for ii (not 100% sure) but I think my answer for iii was somewhere in the upper 40000s (although I could be wrong here as well). I can't remember how I did it though so take that as you will until someone else can confirm either way.

But thanks for that, appreciate the effort!

I got about 95/120 after going through this. Hopefully i will do a bit better after ranks and that are taken in. Not very happy with this mark. In the trials i got 87% and if my mark is accurate i didn't even break the 80% range, which makes me feel like shit. Any thoughts? Being a little over the top maybe?

EDIT: Just remembered i didn't sa thank you, so THANK YOU.

Yeh hey matt nice solutions,

Only one error - in q4 c) part iv) you found the area of the minor segment rather than the area of the major segment - just thought id point it out - other than that everything else looks good - im hoping for a mark of 110/120 + :)

Well done! Thanks for putting up your solutions. I got pretty much the same as you. Except I think 4)c)iv) asked for the major sector, and you found the minor sector. Also, for 7)b)i) you used an Extension 1 method didn’t you? It took a bit longer than necessary, but you got the right answer, so I don’t think you’ll lose any marks there.

I got the same as the solutions, but we'll wait for someone else (again).

Now that I think about it, it really should be November. Hmm =/

My 9c)ii) and iii) are the same as yours, as far as I can tell.

Also for 7b)i), you can move sinx over to the other side to make make it tan, and you get the same answer. I got a different answer for the area of the shaded area though (my answer was 1) but I'm not confident in that answer.

Anyway, most of my answers look the same as yours, so yay!

incorrect solution: 4c) iv) Find area of major sector ACB
correct answer should be 1/2 . √3^2. 5π/3 = 5π/3 units sq

got a question -- in Q7b) i) where √3cosx = sinx would it be reasonable to go:
√3 = tanx
therefore x = π/3
is that correct?

actually.. don't worry.. it is right, and the other solution is 4π/3 ... all good, just 4got the full ?ion for a second

Ta champ.

I get according to that 75-78/120 (depending how many marks you get for working )

Fucken stoked seeing as that will give me like a 82-84/100 considering maths is my worst subject.

Hey...

For 3(b)(i) is it necessary to simplify the expression to:
650 + 100n

rather than
750 + 100(n-1)

??
