academic advising usually is telling about the course, what its about etc. than gets you to fill out forms to enrol, as in what units to choose for your first 2 semesters and if you need academic credit to be processed, you can get teh course coordinater to sign and see if you comply with the policies and you hand the forms in to them. well that was last year anyway.
