Hey guys would really appreciate abit of input.
I got a UAI that puts me well above the 2008 cutoff required for unsw comm/law but just below usyd cutoff for comm/law.
However I also managed to score a cadetship with a Big 4 firm earlier in the year and its something that I'm kind of reluctant to give up. Shame as they clearly stated that they won't allow double degrees (although I'm thinking that it can be negotiated..?).
At this point I'm interested in going into accounting/finance(i.e. investment banking most likely) or head the other way into the law side of things through comm/law. Yes I'm aware that the banking industry is in a sh@#storm atm and probably will be for a few years. But I'm thinking that it might blow over in 2013 when I complete my degree and jobs will come round again?
So basically I'd just like some advice on whether to do comm/law and gun for whatever I'm interested in 5 years time or should I take the more secure path in these times of financial turmoil and cement an analyst position with a big 4 firm at the end of a straight commerce degree in 3.5 years time? Also I'm a tad paranoid that the unsw cutoff might jump by 0.2+ from last year which would leave me screwed over if I were to drop the cadetship here and now.
Also is it true that you're only allowed to do one commerce major in comm/law?
Cheers guys really appreciate your thoughts and experiences.
