An easy way to figure out the electron configuration of an element? (1 Viewer)

I have been online and there are really complicated methods? In conquering chemistry preliminary there is a way of solving in the book but i do not understand it. any one willing to explain, or suggest a method. Or would you just recommend memorization past calcium element.

Is there any particular reason you need to memorise them? It seems rather pointless to me

for transition metals i dont think there is a pattern. Also, they can have more than 8 electrons (even 32) in their second to last shell and they can also bond through electrons in last shell as well as second last!

as already mentioned, there is no point memorising electron config
