Hi guys, I'm doing a written report and one of the requirements is "a discussion of the sanction given, in terms of its effectiveness and the extent to which it fulfils the main aims of criminal sanctions"
My case is the R v Gonzales [2004] case, so if anyone could give me some pointers to help me complete this part, that would be wonderful!

Also, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I'm not really very familiar with the forums but yeah if anyone could help me, that would be spectacular. Thanks!

Well, try analysing each of the main purposes of criminal sanctions (i.e. rehabilitation, retribution, protection of society etc). So like, to what extent does the sentence in the Gonzales case protect society etc.
