This seems like a typical Question 8 type. What is the general thing you want to achieve when proving irrationality? I'm interested in these types of questions.

But they'd have to give parts opposed to a whole q. And, i heard these q's aren't in the syllabus anymore.

I think that syllabus is on ice since the national curriculum was announced.

Normally done by proof of contradiction but what you want to achieve that if we assume e = p/q for integers p,q - there is a case where this cannot be possible.

the case is often related to a property of the number or whatever.
