I am thinking about doing MATH2070/2970 next sem.
One issue concerning me very much is that I don't know how hard this unit is and how assessments go.

There are computer labs but I've never done INFO or COMP before.

Anyone here can offer some advice for me?
Many thanks!

There is no such unit as MATH2072/2972. Did you perhaps mean MATH2070/2970, which is Optimisation and Financial Mathematics?

None of the mathematics units have computing prerequisites, so don't be too worried about not having much of a computing background. They will teach you what to do.

Yes thanks so much!
BTW, I'm doing Bachelor of Commerce/ Bachelor of Science as well.
For commerce I plan to major in qba and finance and for science I plan to major Stat & Financial Math and Stat.

No problem :)

Just on an additional note, you won't be able to complete both a Statistics and a FMAS major; both require STAT3011/3911 and STAT3012/3912, and you can't count a unit to one major that you have already counted towards another. Just do a Mathematics major instead of FMAS.

>It's one of the easiest maths units.

>That's fine. They will teach you the basics and the tutor is nice and helpful. And you can always ask around when it comes to project time.

Basically this, they're almost the same thing. Another option is to do Maths and FMAS major (like me :))

The prerequisite is MATH1001 and MATH1002.
If I do MATH1003 and MATH2070 concurrently in semester 2, would it be hard for me to follow the materials in MATH2070?

I get a feeling I know who this is hahahaha

I'm doing MATH2988 next sem concurrently with MATH1907 so it should be fine I think. A lot of people apparently do this.

Edit: Maybe not, the person I know in the same predicament as you did 1901/1902.

Also if you want to do 2nd year maths, why not try MATH1903?
