Anyway what does everyone think of this course?

provided u do well internal tranfers are an option...

in terms of advanced arts its a good program and teh uais very high because thers only about 20 places....alot of atudents enroll in arts pull hds and transfer

but its a great program especially if u have a subject u love and speacialised in at high school...stopd u from getting bored!

you havta maintain a d average though

arts avdvanced is pretty much u get to take a designated "advanced" unit where u take 2nd yr subjects in 1st year second semester, u are garenteed honours in the subject and havta take teh courses u need a credit average to be in

its more exculsive and kinda makes uni more interesting than repeating...as i said before usyd open days jan 5th so goand chat to them...lol its not that different then arts other then in ur pet subject u wont bebored to death and u get garenteed honours and sounds a little more impressive then plain arts! plus u get ur own mentor ect ect...look at the usyd site (www.usyd.edu.au) they have a courses guide look at it! (click future students) itll give u alot of info!

Cool, thanks. I am beginning to feel quite stupid in regards to uni because I dont know what subjects I should major in and I don't want to muck up my chances for a certain major in first year. I better start doing some reading- I will go to the web site, because I'm trully clueless!

As I just posted that do you all think it is stupid if I miss the info day on the 5th?
I could potentially be away- should I come back for it or will I be fine finding out the info myself and in the orientation week?

if u must miss it, then either e-mail them with quests, like what i did regarding politics/gov and they answered it :)

or, u can call them up. The lady i emailed gave me the faculty phone number, u want it?

here's the answer

The Arts degrees lack variety when it comes to Government/international
relations as it is not an Arts Faculty subject. Certain Government
subjects are available to BA students, but you may only complete up to
60 credit points in total from Table B subjects (which Government is).
You will need to consult the Faculty of Economics and Business (or
their
handbook), regarding the scope of Government subjects. I also suggest
you consider one of their degrees if you are wanting a degree in
Government and International Relations.

Don't stress out too much, very few people know before uni what they want to do (lol, even at uni a lot of people don't know what they want to do)
I had a major in mind before uni, and then got to uni and wasn't all that impressed with that particular subject (psych) but fell in love with another (bio) and now plan to major in it, don't try and set anything in concrete before you give it a go.

and, also, i got this problem:
just say i can't do a combined law degree at uts or unsw (eas entry),

does anyone think tis a stupid/risky option to do arts, get a good mark and then transfer to law @unsw or syd (comined with arts) ?

I thought about it when I was thinking about these things. It looks good on your resume, but it's not as flexible as they make out, because you have to do a certain quota of 'advanced' units, and only some of the units are advanced, etc etc. An arts degree does the job fine, with more flexibility and less pressure! (and if you're looking for mentors in terms of academics, if you do the smaller subjects and/ or are good at what you're doing, you'll get them no matter what you're doing!)
