I will be applying for youth allowance.
Does centrelink actually check how much money you have? Will they ask for proof?
thanks.

If you can prove you earned the required amount over the last 18 months you should be fine

I don't understand how they will do it. Coz if we just show them our bank statement, couldnt we have multiple accounts with various institutions?
Unless if the banks will actually reveal our financial position to them, how are they gonna check us?

you need to show them your bank accounts - so if you have various accounts you need to show them various statements

and pay slips to prove that you've earnt the ~18500 or whatever in 18 months - if you dont have the proof you won't get it...

Thats if you're going for independence

to be independent you have to actually have earnt a certain amount of money in 18 months (since leaving school - or an 18 month period) have you actually researched any of this?

but as i said - thats only for independence

Hi Peartie .
thanks for the help! you always seem to be there when i have centrelink issues.
im multitasking on many things now, so i dont have much time to worry about centrelink. i hope i can get the money when im on exchange.
one more thing, do u know if the 18000 u have to earn includes centrelink payments as a source of income?
thanks~

if ur under 18 it goes to your parents anyway (cant be independent under 18)

and ne of the criteria is "studying full time" so I doubt pathways is full time...
